On the 8th of October, the luxury world will celebrate World Luxury Day. There will be tributes to rare watches, grand yachts and fine ateliers, and they deserve every one.

For the occasion, our founder Moriya Rockman has written a piece that looks at luxury from another angle.

In The Opposite of Indifference, she asks what we truly remember from the most luxurious moments of our lives. Her answer is rarely an object. It is the moment someone noticed us: a fire lit before we arrived, a favourite coffee remembered a year later, a quiet detail arranged before we thought to ask.

With a little help from Verdi’s La Traviata, she makes the case that the rarest material today is not gold or cashmere. It is undivided attention.

Historic Lakefront Villa with Infinity Pool – Lake Garda

Set above the Baia delle Sirene, this restored 19th-century villa was built by the Mildmay barons and once hosted Winston Churchill, Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh. A careful renovation, completed in 2016, kept the period character and added modern comfort throughout.

The house: 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms for up to 16 guests. The main floor has a lake-view living room and kitchen, a dining room for sixteen, a library with a grand piano, and a furnished terrace overlooking the water. Four lake-view doubles sit on the first floor, including a suite with a walk-in wardrobe and private terrace. Five more en-suite bedrooms are on the top floor.

Wellness and leisure: The lower level has an indoor pool with hydromassage, sauna, Turkish bath, gym, cinema room, billiard room, w**e cellar and tavern.
Outside: A 10,000 m² park with century-old trees, an infinity pool looking across the lake, and private beach access.

Services on request: Private chef, grocery delivery, car and boat hire, yoga teacher, personal shopper, guided tours and w**e tastings.

Location: Sirmione thermal baths ~10 km, Gardaland 14 km, Verona airport under 40 km.
