Getting there is part of the experience…

At 3,000 meters above Verbier, Cabane Tortin sits high above the Tortin Glacier, surrounded by snow, glaciers and some of the highest peaks in the Alps.

We made the journey on snowshoes, crossing the glacier and leaving the lifts, roads and crowds behind.

A cabane is traditionally a mountain refuge reached at the end of a climb. Cabane Tortin takes that idea and reimagines it. The adventure of getting there, followed by somewhere warm, quiet and beautifully designed to retreat to.

A first look inside Cabane Tortin.

Perched at 3,000 meters above Verbier, the Cabane combines natural timber, stone and glass with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the surrounding mountains into almost every room.

The main living space is warm and understated, centered around the fireplace, while three king bedrooms offer a quieter place to retreat after a day in the mountains.

And then there is the view! The Tortin Glacier and the surrounding peaks are never far away.

This is a mountain refuge, but not quite as you know it.

A final ride for a Verbier icon 🕊️

On 30 August, the historic Verbier–Savoleyres gondola made its final journey after more than 55 years of service. First opened in 1970, these iconic cabins have carried generations of skiers, hikers and mountain lovers between Verbier and Savoleyres.

To mark the occasion, the mountain came together for a fitting Valaisan farewell — complete with raclette, music, stories and shared memories at the top of Savoleyres, before the symbolic final descent.
