🇹đŸ‡Č BAMENDA, LET’S HEAR FROM YOU! đŸ”„

At Bengel Ventures, we’re building a community where Cameroonians can share experiences, identify real problems, discuss practical solutions, connect ideas and discover opportunities. We want to involve every major city in Cameroon.

Today, we want to grow that community in Bamenda.

And we want to start with a simple question:

BAMENDA ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGE

If you were given 100,000 FCFA today to start solving ONE everyday problem you have personally observed in Bamenda:

What problem would you solve and how would you use the 100,000 FCFA to test your solution?

BAMENDA GIVEAWAY

We will select 5 people from Bamenda to receive 5,000 FCFA each.

To participate:

👉 Follow Bengel Ventures on Facebook and TikTok
👉 Invite your friends in Bamenda to follow our page
👉 Share this post so more people from Bamenda can join the conversation
👉 Comment: BAMENDA + THE PROBLEM + YOUR SOLUTION + HOW YOU WOULD TEST IT

We’re not necessarily looking for the fanciest idea. We want to see observation, practical thinking and a genuine understanding of a problem people face.

Already following us? Bring another Bamenda person into the community.

New here? Welcome to Bengel Ventures

We believe some of the best opportunities are hiding inside problems people experience every day.

Let’s find them together.

A ROLEX TELLS TIME.

SO DOES YOUR PHONE.

SO WHY WOULD SOMEONE PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE WATCH?

Because sometimes people aren't buying what a product DOES.

They're buying what owning it SAYS ABOUT THEM.

Welcome to the fifth business psychology:

IMAGE-DRIVEN BUSINESS.

Think about luxury cars.

Designer clothes.

Premium hotels.

Exclusive restaurants.

High-end phones.

In these markets, functionality is only part of the purchase.

Customers may also be buying:

Status.

Identity.

Achievement.

Belonging.

Confidence.

Exclusivity.

This is where branding becomes extremely powerful.

But here's something important for young entrepreneurs:

Putting an expensive logo on an ordinary product doesn't suddenly make it a luxury brand.

The product, packaging, customer service, environment, communication and experience all have to support the image you're selling.

If you want people to pay premium prices, give them a premium reason.

TODAY'S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Look at your own business.

Which game are you currently playing?

1. Desire-driven
2. Habit-driven
3. Trend-driven
4. Culture-driven
5. Image-driven

Your business can even operate in more than one.

Drop your number and your type of business in the comments.

Let's discuss how you can play your game better.

AFROBEATS DIDN'T JUST SELL MUSIC.

IT HELPED CHANGE HOW THE WORLD SAW AFRICAN MUSIC.

That's a completely different business psychology.

CULTURE-DRIVEN BUSINESS.

At this level, you're no longer simply asking:

"What do people want to buy?"

You're asking:

"What do people want to belong to?"

Look at Nollywood.

Look at Afrobeats.

Look at some of the fashion, language, food, entertainment and lifestyle movements that have come out of Africa.

The strongest ones didn't simply follow culture.

They helped CREATE it.

And Cameroon has its own language, humor, food, fashion, music, neighborhoods, experiences and stories.

That means opportunities exist for entrepreneurs who understand the people around them deeply enough to build something they can identify with.

But you cannot fake culture.

You have to understand your people.

Listen to them.

Know what they laugh about.

Know what frustrates them.

Know what they're proud of.

Know what they aspire to become.

Then build something that genuinely connects with them.

TODAY'S QUESTION:

What part of Cameroonian culture do you believe has the potential to become a much bigger business opportunity locally or internationally?

Food?

Fashion?

Music?

Tourism?

Entertainment?

Language?

Something else?

Let's hear your ideas.

SOME BUSINESSES CAN MAKE YOU MONEY FAST...

AND STILL DISAPPEAR FAST.

Remember products everybody suddenly wanted?

One month, almost nobody was talking about them.

Then suddenly everybody was selling them.

That's the third psychology of Business.

TREND-DRIVEN BUSINESS.

There's nothing wrong with making money from a trend.

The mistake is assuming the trend will last forever.

When demand suddenly increases, smart entrepreneurs understand something important:

TIMING.

Get in early.

Understand what people want.

Don't overstock simply because today's sales are good.

Recover your investment.

Make your profit.

Watch the market.

And be prepared to move when customers start losing interest.

Because the same people rushing to buy something today might have completely forgotten about it six months from now.

A trend can be an opportunity.

It shouldn't automatically become your lifetime business plan.

TODAY'S COMMUNITY CONVERSATION:

What's one product or business trend you've watched become extremely popular in Cameroon and then suddenly disappear?

Let's see how many we can remember.

A FEW WEEKS AGO, WE SENT ONE OF OUR OWN.

Some weeks back, Bengel Ventures sponsored one of our followers to attend the LinkedIn Local Cameroon event held in Douala on October 10.

That follower was Dessi Flex and he came all the way from Bamenda to be there. He told us he had an amazing time and that it was a truly great networking event. The fact that he traveled that distance and took the time to share how satisfied he was meant a lot to us.

In the coming days, we'll be working with Dessi to share more of his experience, including how the knowledge and connections from this event are already shaping his entrepreneurial journey.

This is exactly why we believe in networking. There's so much to learn out there and even more opportunities waiting for those willing to show up.

Get out there. Network. Grab the knowledge. You never know what one event, one conversation or one connection could change for you.

GETTING THE FIRST SALE IS GOOD.

BECOMING PART OF THE CUSTOMER'S ROUTINE IS BETTER.

Think about your barber.

You probably don't search Facebook for a new barber every two weeks.

You already know where you're going.

Think about your favorite restaurant, supermarket, mobile money point, mechanic, tailor or achumbo spot.

At some point, you stopped thinking about where to go.

You simply go to your usual spot.

That's the second psychology of Business.

HABIT-DRIVEN BUSINESS.

The goal isn't simply to convince someone to buy once.

It's to become their normal choice.

And there's something many entrepreneurs underestimate here;

CONSISTENCY.

If the food tastes amazing today and terrible next week, you've broken the habit.

If you deliver quickly today but take three days next time, you've broken trust.

If your customer service depends on your mood, people eventually find another option.

You don't need to surprise your customers every day.

Sometimes you simply need to give them the same great experience every time.

Because reliability can turn:

A customer into a repeat customer.

A repeat customer into a loyal customer.

And a loyal customer into someone who brings you more customers.

TODAY'S QUESTION:

What business in your area has become part of your routine and what keeps you going back?

Mention them if you can.

STOP COMPETING ONLY ON PRICE

WHAT IF THE PROBLEM ISN'T YOUR PRICE?

You sell clothes. Someone else sells clothes.

You sell food. Ten other people around you sell food.

You sell phones, furniture, shoes, cosmetics, drinks... so do hundreds of other people.

This is the first psychology of Business.

DESIRE-DRIVEN BUSINESS.

Here, you're selling something people already want. That's the good news.

The bad news? You're probably not the only person selling it.

So how do you compete?

Many small businesses immediately reduce their prices.

But what if you competed differently?
Maybe you answer WhatsApp messages faster.
Maybe your delivery is more reliable.
Maybe your shop is cleaner.
Maybe customers are treated better.
Maybe you actually keep your promises.

Sometimes the difference between you and the person selling the exact same thing isn't the product. It's the EXPERIENCE.

Before reducing your price again, ask yourself:
"What can I do better than my competitors?"

TODAY'S COMMUNITY CONVERSATION:

Think about a business you regularly buy from.
What keeps you going back when someone else sells the same thing?

Let's learn from each other.
