Tensions Rise in Fundong Following Mysterious Death of 13-Year-Old Boy

Tension remains high in Fundong, Boyo Division, following the mysterious death of a 13-year-old boy identified as Gracious, whose lifeless body was reportedly deposited in front of the Fundong mortuary by a motorbike rider who immediately fled the scene.

According to preliminary information, Gracious had allegedly been invited by a chainsaw operator to assist in felling a tree. The initial account suggested that the tree accidentally fell on the teenager, leading to his death.

However, the incident has since taken a different turn after residents reportedly visited the scene. According to community members, the tree in question was still standing with the chainsaw blade lodged inside it, while the chainsaw operator could not be found. The discovery has raised serious questions about the accuracy of the initial account.

Residents have also questioned how a 13-year-old could have been expected to assist in pulling down such a large tree. Some locals further claim they observed no obvious injuries on the boy's body that would typically suggest he had been crushed by a falling tree.

As public concern grew, some members of the community began pointing fingers at a local businessman identified as Allen, alleging that he owns the chainsaw operation, the tree, and a nearby sand excavation site where the teenager was reportedly working.

The incident has also revived longstanding grievances among some residents, who accuse the businessman of exploiting local sand and timber resources without contributing to the development of the area. Others allege that previous complaints to authorities over tree felling had gone unanswered.
