🎄 Christmas in the Czech Republic 🎄
Christmas in the Czech Republic is a magical time, full of unique traditions and cozy family moments. On Christmas Eve (December 24th), families gather for a festive dinner, often featuring carp and potato salad, a meal that has been enjoyed for generations.
Homes are beautifully decorated with lights, ornaments, and handmade decorations, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Children excitedly await gifts from Baby Jesus (Ježíšek), while the sound of Christmas bells fills the air. Many people also enjoy traditional Czech Christmas desserts, like vánočka (sweet braided bread) and cukroví (assorted cookies).
During the holiday season, many shops have special opening hours. Most stores are closed or have shorter hours on December 24 and 31, closed on December 25, 26, and January 1, and operate under regular hours in between.
