The raw truth about moving to Spain post-Brexit. 🇪🇸🇬🇧 No sugar-coating here!

In this clip from Expats in Spain: The Podcast, Rena opens up about the immense stress of applying for the Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV). Imagine having to quit your job and sell your house in the UK before even knowing if your Spanish visa will be approved! 🤯

Bureaucracy in Spain is no joke, but planning it right makes all the difference.

You know something is wrong when flying across Europe is cheaper than a local train ticket back home... 🤯✈️

In this clip from the debut episode of Expats in Spain: The Podcast, Rena and I laugh about the reality of travel costs. She managed to get a return flight from the Costa Blanca for just £42—meanwhile, in the UK, that wouldn’t even get her from her hometown to Edinburgh!

Living under the Mediterranean sun in the Vega Baja or Costa Blanca area doesn't just mean better weather; it also means being incredibly well-connected to the UK without breaking the bank. 🌴☀️

Hi everyone! For those living in the Costa Blanca / Vega Baja area: The very first episode of Expats in Spain: The Podcast is officially out! 🌴☀️

To kick off this project, I sat down for a chat with Rena, a colleague of mine who took the leap all the way from Scotland to the Costa Blanca (specifically to Villamartín).

In this conversation, there are no filters and no scripts. We talk about what moving to Spain really means: from the paperwork and the culture shock of the first few months, to the laughs (and the occasional adventure) and what on earth is going on with our famous roundabouts! 🚗😂

Whether you already live here and want to look back at those first moments, or you simply want to discover more about the lifestyle in the Vega Baja and Costa Blanca, I invite you to listen to her story.

📩If you’d like to be a guest on future episodes, feel free to contact me!

To kick off the podcast, I’m joined by Reena, a colleague of mine who came all the way from Scotland. She’s been experiencing firsthand what it’s truly like ...

Have you noticed the celebrations happening around Spain today? May 15th marks the day of San Isidro Labrador! 🌾🇪🇸

While the biggest party happens in Madrid, where locals dress up in traditional chulapo outfits and eat special rosquillas, this festival is deeply rooted in Spain's agricultural history.

For those of us living on the Costa Blanca and in the Vega Baja, agriculture is a huge part of our heritage. That's why towns with strong farming roots—like the town actually named San Isidro right here in the Vega Baja—go all out to celebrate their patron saint with romerías (pilgrimages), music, and incredible local food.

Getting to know these historical traditions is one of the best parts about moving to Spain. It’s not just about the beautiful homes; it’s about the rich culture that surrounds them!

Swipe to learn more about San Isidro, and let me know in the comments: What is the most unique Spanish festival you’ve experienced so far? 👇

Why I do what I do (and why it matters for your investment) 🏠✨

Choosing a home in a foreign country is about much more than square meters and prices. It’s about trust, legacy, and finding your place in a new community.

I’m Javier, and my approach to real estate isn’t just professional—it’s personal.

From my early days learning the value of property management through my family, to my years as an Official Tour Guide and my corporate experience in Berlin, I’ve built a unique vision of the Costa Blanca and Vega Baja.

What does this mean for you?

✅ Historical Insight: I don't just show houses; I explain the heritage and evolution of the neighborhood.

✅ Practical Experience: I know what’s under the paint. I’ve managed, repaired, and lived the "trenches" of property.

✅ Local Integration: I connect you with the real community—local farmers, artisans, and professionals—so you feel at home from day one.

I’m not just looking for a transaction. I’m looking to help you build your life here, just as I have. 🌿

☺️ Ready to start your own chapter in Spain?

I want to hear your story. Whether you are planning a full relocation, looking for a holiday retreat, or searching for a solid investment in the heart of Alicante (Vega Baja and Costa Blanca) let’s design your transition together.

📩 Send me a DM with the word "START" or tell me about your project. Let’s see how we can turn your Mediterranean dream into a reality!

PS: Nice to meet you!

More than just flowers: The magic of the May Crosses in Alicante! 🌸✨

Did you know that May in Spain starts with an explosion of color? The "Cruces de Mayo" (May Crosses) is one of our most beautiful and ancient traditions. 🇪🇸

From the world-famous patios of Córdoba to the charming streets of Alicante, neighbors come together to build massive crosses made entirely of fresh flowers. But this isn't just about decoration—it’s a celebration of life, spring, and community roots.

Fun fact for my European friends: 🌍 If you are familiar with the Swedish "Midsommar" or the "Maypole" tradition, you’ll find the same spirit here! It’s all about honoring nature’s rebirth after winter.

Why the "Barrio de Santa Cruz" is the place to be: This is the soul of Alicante. Located at the foot of the Santa Bárbara Castle, its narrow, whitewashed streets and steep stairs become a floral paradise. Its name literally means "Holy Cross," making it the heart of this celebration.

Planning to visit? 📍 Barrio de Santa Cruz, Alicante.

📅 1st-3rd May.

👟 Tip: Wear your best walking shoes—the stairs are part of the adventure!

What’s your favorite spring tradition? Tell me in the comments!
