Before we moved to Benalmádena, I had every doubt in my mind... 🫣

What if it doesn’t work out? What if the kids struggle? What if we get it completely wrong?
And the thing is, those thoughts are completely normal!

They don’t mean you’re not ready, they mean you’re human, and you care about getting it right whether that’s for yourself, or for your family.

I’ve learned through our own experience and helping so many others, that the people who make the move aren’t the ones who had no fear, they’re the ones who felt it and chose to take action anyway.

Risk always comes with reward, but the biggest risk of all? Staying exactly where you are, waiting for a certainty that never comes 💚

Recently, I had a conversation with my son about the proposed social media ban here in Spain, and if I’m honest… I expected resistance.

I thought it would be something he wouldn’t agree with, but his reaction completely surprised me.

He said he thinks it’s a good thing!

And when he spoke to his friends about it, many of them felt the same.

Because of the pressure, the comparison, and how much social media can impact the way they see themselves.

It really made me stop and think...

About the environment we’re raising our children in, the influences they’re surrounded by, and what actually matters in their everyday lives.

As parents, we spend so much time thinking about sending them to the best school, making the perfect home, moving or living in the perfect location, but moments like this conversation remind you that it goes far beyond that.

It’s about the pace of life, the culture, the environment they grow up in, and most importantly, the kind of life you’re building for them.

When we first moved to Spain, I didn’t know anyone.

We had no community, no familiar faces, no network... we were just starting a completely new life.

Starting from scratch.

And if I’m honest, that part was harder than I expected.

Everyone talks about the lifestyle, the weather, the slower pace of life, how great the healthcare system is, but no one really prepares you for what it feels like to start from scratch.

What it’s like to rebuild your life from the beginning again, to find your people, and create a sense of home somewhere completely new. That doesn’t just happen on its own.

It can feel isolating at times, but what I’ve learnt — both personally and from helping so many clients make the move — is this:

You have to go all in.

Say yes to everything, put yourself out there, and start conversations, even when it feels uncomfortable!

Because that’s how you build a life here.

Not just through the property you buy, but through the people you meet along the way.

And over time, that’s what turns a place into home.

A little life update from me recently…

If you’ve been keeping up, you’ll know that each week I was doing something new or hadn’t done before, up until my birthday, and this past few weeks has been no different. It’s really been about putting myself out there!

I had the opportunity to speak at the incredible International Women’s Day conference, which was such a special experience. I also hosted a small workshop at my house for a group of fellow dreamers and action takers, and I’ve been invited onto a few more podcasts which has been really exciting 🤗

It’s been a month of saying YES to things that stretch me a little.

What surprised me most is how much I’ve realised I genuinely love public speaking and having these kinds of conversations, so you’ll definitely be seeing more of that from me this year.

Next on my list is something completely different… early morning fresh water swims with the fab team at .es 🏊🏼‍♀️

A reminder to myself that growth doesn’t always come from big dramatic changes. Sometimes it’s just about showing up, trying new things, and seeing where they take you.

If you ask most people why they moved to Spain, they’ll probably tell you the weather.

And yes, 325 days of sunshine is beautiful, but sunshine doesn’t make you sell your home, move countries, and rebuild your life somewhere new.

When we look back honestly, we moved for something much deeper. We moved for a different daily reality; a safe haven:
• A slower pace of life, in a safer feeling environment
• More time outdoors in a slower pace of life
• The kids growing up around different cultures and language
• To live as part of a community where other families and people have similar values
• A life that feels more intentional

And this is the conversation we’re now having more and more with our clients. Not just “what can we afford?”, but also “”is this the lifestyle we want?”” and “”is this where you want your kids to grow up?””

The Costa del Sol is so much more than just a holiday or tourist location. For many families, it’s becoming a safe, stable base in a world that can feel unpredictable.
