There’s something rather lovely about being able to travel like this. A train, a good view out of the window and somewhere new to explore.

One of the things we really appreciate about living in Spain is that while it’s home, it’s also incredibly easy to get out and see more of the world.

A few hours on a plane, a train journey or a road trip and you can find yourself somewhere completely different. Then, when you’re ready, you get to go home again.

Fancy a change of scenery?

One of the great things about living in Spain is that Europe is right there.

A few hours on a plane and you can be somewhere completely different, discovering a new city, trying different food and seeing another part of Europe.

And with so many flights available at really reasonable prices, a weekend away doesn’t have to be a big expedition.

Spain on your doorstep, and so much of Europe just a short flight away.

It’s one of those things you really appreciate when you live here.

Just a quiet evening at home. We got in the pool last night just before dark, enjoying one of those warm September evenings when you don’t really want the day to end.

We weren’t alone though. The dog was keeping an eye on us and the cat had found the perfect spot on the wall to supervise.

Early morning dog walks in Spain. Even in September, it’s still warm here on the Mediterranean, so getting out early is definitely the way to do it.

There’s something lovely about being out as the sun comes up, before the heat kicks in.

Our dog gets her walk, we get some fresh air and occasionally, a view like this.

The cat, at 14, has decided walks are not for her. She prefers to stay home and wait for us to come back so she can demand treats.

We’ve been a little quiet on here this week. Last weekend. we finally started getting some jobs done around our own house and somehow that’s carried on into this week too. We managed to catch up on other jobs, help a friend redo their website and found some time to plan a Christmas market trip.

When you spend most of your time helping other people find their homes or managing renovation projects, your own to-do list can sometimes get pushed to the bottom.

So it’s actually been lovely to get a few things done for ourselves, help a friend out and have a bit of time to plan something fun too.

Because even when helping other people with their homes is what you do for a living, there’s still always something to do at your own.
