Mallorca - Something For Everyone
When it comes to buying property in Spain, Mallorca is one of the most desirable locations. This is not surprising given the fact it is a beach lover’s paradise boasting 262 incredible beaches totalling a whopping length of 50km, crystal clear waters, 11 Michelin star restaurants, over 300km of cycling roads, 10 national parks and nature reserves, 24 golf clubs and 44 harbours for boats and yachts. Being a diverse island with an excellent infrastructure and a vast range of properties and areas, there is something to cater for everyone. You don’t have to be rich and famous to be able to enjoy the fabulous climate and superb quality of life here.
Whilst you may have heard that Mallorca is the ‘playground of the rich’, property in Mallorca can actually be both economical and luxury plus everything in between, from low-cost apartments to luxury villas. Most foreigners prefer to settle in the southwest in the municipalities of Palma, Calvia and Andratx, probably because it is in this part of the island that the infrastructure has reached its highest level, as well as its proximity to Palma. To get, for example, from Santa Ponsa or Calvia to Palma or to the airport, only takes around a 20 minute drive. Proximity to Palma is also desirable due to the city being open year round unlike many areas away from the capital. If your vibe is more fitting with authentic Mallorquín local life, head inland to one of the many beautiful villages full of treasures.
Mallorca enjoys a unique cult status unlike any other island in the Mediterranean, attracting world-famous stars that make it an internationally sought-after and glamorous location for first both and second homes. The island boasts many historic properties such as palaces as well as luxurious state of the art new builds, and offers celebrities peace, privacy and security.
For buyers with no financial constraints, the most exclusive villas can be found in Son Vida, Costa d’en Blanes, Bendinat, Andratx, Deia and Valldemossa. Andratx has been named as one of the TOP-25 most prestigious populated areas in the world. It has also been said that Calle Sant Carles in Costa d’en Blanes is the most expensive street to purchase property on the island. The highest known price is 65 million euros.
For those on a lower budget, you will find you get much more for your money if you head out south and east and inland, further away from Palma and from the coast . Village homes inland tend to be much more affordable than those on the coast. Why not consider buying an affordable home a few miles from the coast and you could make a considerable saving (and with Mallorca being an island, you are never far from the sea anyway).
Many buyers prefer to be in the countryside. It’s quieter and more peaceful than the city and some of the more boisterous seaside resorts. There’s another advantage too, as you move inland the terrain tends to become more elevated, giving you stunning views often right down to the sea. That said, you certainly are not restricted to the inland areas. There are usually quite a few bank repossessions in some of the loveliest areas of the Mallorca for sale, so this is a good way to search for a bargain.
Another good option can be to rent a property with an option to buy in the contract. This is an ideal way out for those who want to live in Mallorca, but do not yet have enough money to immediately pay off the full cost of buying a property. In addition, long-term lease with a buyout is beneficial to the owners themselves.
It is impossible to cover everything in one article but Mallorca really does have something for everyone whatever your bank balance. At Bella Islas you will find property to cater to all budgets and requirements. Anyone can buy a slice of this heavenly island!
