Autumn in the South of France… and we’re still kayaking 🍂☀️🛶

The Gardon River at Collias, paddling beneath the Pont du Gard — and the best part? It’s only 10 minutes from us in Bezouce.

Warm enough for a few hours on the water, even in autumn.

The canoeing season runs from the end of March to the end of October.

Oh, you thought running a holiday let was easy? 😂

Just pop in, change the sheets, collect the money and enjoy the passive income… right? 👀

Meanwhile, behind the scenes:

🚽 Blocked toilets
🛠️ Broken things that were definitely NOT broken yesterday
🏊 Pool problems
🧹 “How did they make THAT much mess?”
🔥 And yes… a WILDFIRE near the village 😳

Running a holiday let is basically hospitality, maintenance, customer service, crisis management and occasional firefighting… all rolled into one 😂

Apparently not all our guests arrive with a booking… 🐈🤍

This little guy wandered into our garden at the gîte and decided he’d quite like to stay.

We contacted his previous owners and discovered they’d been looking for him. They had since welcomed another cat into their family, and very kindly said we could keep him.

So our little gîte has gained a new resident. 🐾🇫🇷

Uzès market 🧀🍷🐌

One of the best ways to spend a morning in Uzès — wandering through the market stalls, discovering local cheeses, w**e, fresh produce… and even snails! 🐌

A little glimpse of the market and the beautiful streets of Uzès in between.

And now is a lovely time to visit. The summer crowds have eased, making it much more enjoyable to browse, stop for a coffee and soak up the atmosphere at your own pace.

Just an easy trip from our gîte in Bezouce — perfect for a morning out in the Gard. 🇫🇷

🎆 Now THAT’S how to round off the school holidays!

After the earlier fireworks had to be cancelled because of the wildfires, it was extra special to finally see Bezouce light up the sky. 🎆

A huge thank you to the village for putting on such a fantastic evening — what a way to celebrate! ❤️

As the school holidays come to an end, things start to get a little quieter around here… but that’s certainly not the end of what the Gard has to offer.

🍂 Autumn is a beautiful time to explore — local markets, walks, villages, good food and plenty of sunny days.

☀️ Winter has its own charm too, with crisp days, Christmas markets, sunshine and far fewer crowds.

So if you’re thinking about a getaway outside the busy school-holiday season, our gîte is open and ready to welcome you. 🏡

Come and discover Bezouce and the surrounding area at a slower pace. There’s plenty to enjoy once the summer crowds have headed home. 🇫🇷
