A beautiful and magical first day with the amazing CHICKENSHED team, the children were asked to write a letter to their future selves and the adults were asked what song would be their legacy gift to their children. Not a dry eye in the house as we would say 🥹🥰 Such a joy and privilege to welcome these beautiful people to Clos de Gaye to be part of our work in bringing healing to humanity ❤️

Literature, reading and writing, are such an important part of life at Clos de Gaye. We often leave a curated selection of books on the bed for our visitors and give them full access to our extensive library, as well as create time and space for people to get stuck in a book during our retreats and summer camps. We also work closely with professors and trainers from Harvard’s Pre-texts programme that underlines the importance of the pleasures of reading and writing for the deep thought necessary for academic and life success. So many parents come to us with concern that children are so dependent on screens today but we know that a love of language and literature is what really feeds young minds and hearts. And for the healthy functioning of our democracies and society at large, adults also need to commit to creating time for the deeper level of thought that reading and writing allows ❤️

Well we definitely don’t agree with ridiculous comments about the death of opera and ballet 🤦‍♀️At Clos de Gaye we actually observe a greater interest in these art forms as the live experience becomes all the more valuable in asserting our humanity in the face of AI. We loved having the wonderful and .milivojevic at last year’s summer camp in this gorgeous music and storytelling workshop on Prokofiev’s famous Peter and the Wolf. Hugely enjoyed by all and a wonderful introduction to the magic of classical music, live storytelling and performance. The artistic revolution has just begun 😉🥰

Our beekeeping and honey-making workshops were one of the highlights of Summer Camp last year, an opportunity for children growing up in cities to learn more about the natural world and get their own taste of real honey, fresh from the hive in all its glory and natural purity. And the honeycomb was just amazing!!
