A fantastic opportunity to own 3 lime kilns! One is still open and can be seen in all its glory. The first 2 were built in 1860 to burn limestone for fertiliser, the 3rd kiln was built in 1872 and the other 2 were filled in. The house was added as the foreman’s
residence and site office. There was a boulongerie behind the house to keep the workforce fed. The remains of this can still be seen. The 3rd kiln is of a rare design and we believe it is only one of 4 in France of this type. You can walk round the control tunnel which is in it’s original condition with names scratched into the walls. We heard from locals that it was popular place for date night! The kiln we believe was closed in the 1930s when the property became a farm. It’s such an interesting place steeped in history and the locals are always keen to tell stories. We had a visit from a family who lived here 50 years ago and we heard stories about the war and the resistance.
