A road with an identity crisis....
It starts as Charlton Road, becomes Junction Road, before somehow turning back into Charlton Road again as it heads towards the village itself.
But perhaps that's fitting.
Because few roads in Andover have changed as much as this one.
Over the centuries it has been a toll road, a gateway into town, home to vast watercress beds fed by the River Anton, crossed by the famous Sprat & Winkle railway and watched over by landmarks like the Folly Inn.
Yet the story that defines Charlton Road began in the aftermath of the First World War.
As Andover searched for a way to remember those who never returned, local businessman Edmund Parsons championed an ambitious idea.. a living memorial.
With land donated by Henry Gamman and funds raised by local people, Andover War Memorial Hospital opened in 1926.
One hundred years later, alongside the Countess of Brecknock Hospice, that mission of care continues.
This week's Street of the Week isn't just the story of a road.
It's the story of how a community chose remembrance through service, and how that decision continues to touch lives a century later.
