Hi everyone, for those of you that have been following Cruise Retirement for some time, we've received requests from quite a number of people wanting to experience a "try before you buy" arrangement on-board our vessel before committing to moving aboard.

We do understand that purchasing a home is a big thing and buying Off the Plan can be a scary prospect when you're a retiree in particular, so here's what we're going to do.

We're going to offer a range of short cruises for you to "sample our wares" and for the first five months of cruise operations, beginning January 1st 2020, we're going to offer a range of cruises of between 3 and 15 nights so you'll have the opportunity to take an extended guided tour around the ship whilst vacationing on a "traditional cruise".

Now here's the kicker. Those of you that decide to then purchase a Residence within 30 days of taking a cruise with us will have the price they paid for their cruise deducted from their Residence Purchase Price!

Our Try-Buy Cruises brochure will be distributed within two weeks, so ensure you get your booking made if you're interested as we've already sold over 25% of our Residences on-board the Enchanted Explorer, with limited spaces available.

We look forward to sailing with you soon.

In order to legally retire abroad in Spain, you’ll need to choose a residency option that works best for your situation. Some people choose to live solely through their tourist (short-stay) visa, border hopping every 90 days, though this is tiresome, costly, and voids you of any benefits or rights within the country. The majority of expat retirees in Spain opt for a long-stay visa (visado nacionale) in order to live full time in the country.

If you’re considering making a new life for yourself in Spain, you’re hardly alone. More than 5.5 million foreign nationals are now living in Spain, accounting for more than 12% of its population. Spain’s expat population is dominated by British citizens, but an increasing number of Americans are finding their way there, too.

Many of them are retirees, and overwhelmingly they choose to live along the Costa del Sol, the Mediterranean coast of the province of Málaga known for its near-perfect weather, low-cost living and no-stress lifestyle.

A soft Spanish real-estate market and the strong U.S. dollar make Spain considerably more affordable for American retirees than most of the United States.

ONE in seven homes in Spain that change hands are bought by foreigners, according to the most recent annual report by the College of Registrars – in fact, non-Spaniards consistently account for over 13% of buyers. Figures have not yet been released for 2018, but nearly 61,000 residential properties were snapped up either by expatriates or by buyers seeking a foreign holiday home in 2017.

Foreign buyers snap up one in seven Spanish homes: Brits still lead the field, despite Brexit. Read this and thousands of other news stories and articles on thinkSPAIN, the leading English language website for Spain.
