What are private renters doing to combat the current energy crisis?

With the colder temperatures in full flow, the lengths to which some tenants who are renting privately will go to reduce their energy bill has become apparent.

In a recent poll of 2,000 private tenants, 22% stated they would be opting for a shower at their gym instead of at home.

I WORKED OUT WHY I’VE BEEN GETTING IGNORED

For a number of months I’ve been contacting landlords on OpenRent and barely had a response 🤷🏻‍♂️

Having met a number of people who have successfully taken on properties through OpenRent, I was baffled as to why I couldn’t even get a response.

‘Are my messages poorly written?’

One of the many questions I asked myself to try and solve the problem I was having.

I began to research into copywriting and the characteristics of effectively writing good copy and implemented these principles into my messages.

Still no response...

Then I remembered back to being told when I was younger that I’d get less opportunities in life because I didn’t have an English name.

Positive that this was the reason why, I created an account in my moms name and selected the profile photo of one of me and her together so that when they did eventually speak to me, it wasn’t totally out of the blue.

EUREKA 🤯

It’s sad that people make pre-judgements based solely on someone’s name, but it is what it is I guess.

AND YES, I say Mom not Mum. All you none midlanders don’t know what you’re talking about 🤣

Class catch up with Fabian from Easier Management after a long day working away in Bristol yesterday.

One of my favourite things about being involved in property has been connecting with people that I wouldn’t of met otherwise, yet we share a lot of similarities.

I’m all for meeting people virtually through zoom or FaceTime...

But there’s nothing better than being able to meet up with someone you’ve seen ten’s of times virtually, but never in person.

Getting to sit down and talk about our journey so far and plans for the future over a burrito and a 0% beer 🤣

Grateful for all the people that I’ve become good friends with on this journey so far and how much value they all bring to our friendships 🙌🏼

For someone that one day has ambitions of one day owning their own football club, seeing my company logo on the big screen at a football game is a win 🙌🏼

Being on this journey where there’s just as many lows as there are highs, I’ve realised it’s certainly important to celebrate each win you have but to not get ahead of yourself at the same time.

The perk of being a letting agent is getting to meet so many people

You can learn something from every person you meet

Which is why I always get to know prospective tenants and love finding out about the different cultures of international students

Property can be a lonely journey 🚶🏻‍♂️

It could be quite easy for people to have a scarcity mindset and only focus on themselves

But what I love most about being involved in property is the people

I hit a bit of a bump in the road yesterday after a mistake I made

I dropped Rupen a message and as always he was open to help out

He went out his way to make time to help me with advice and reassurance to make me realise the issue was no where near as big as it was in my head

We need more Rupens putting smiles back on people’s faces 😁
