🧪 Treating a Plug with the Tek-Kote Release System
A great mould starts with a great plug — and the right release system can make all the difference. 🔥
Once your plug has been lacquered and polished, it’s time to get it ready for tooling. Our Nord-approved Tek-Kote system provides a straightforward process for cleaning, sealing and releasing your mould surface.
💙 THE PROCESS:
1️⃣ Clean & Seal
Start with Tek-Kote Mould Cleaner & Mould Sealer to prepare the surface properly.
2️⃣ Choose the right release agent
From Fast-Release and Fast-Release-XPRE to Spray-Release Gloss and Resi-Release, there’s a solution for different applications.
3️⃣ Use the right cloth
Tek-Kote Fast-Release reacts with water, so DO NOT use normal cotton cloths. 🚫
We recommend Nord Composites Dry Wipes — smooth, soft and designed for the job.
4️⃣ Wipe on correctly
Apply a thin, even film over approximately 1m² at a time. No aggressive rubbing or polishing required.
5️⃣ Build your protection
Allow 15 minutes between coats, then repeat until you have 4 coats in total.

A properly prepared mould, reliable release, an excellent surface finish and less time spent dealing with sticking, rework and frustration.
