Yesterday’s site visit came with an unexpected bonus…

I was visiting a development to discuss the potential staging of a show home, and while I was there I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek inside the church being renovated next door.

There’s something so special about seeing a building with so much history being brought back to life. Even at this stage, you can already see how incredible the space has the potential to be.

One of the things I love about this job is getting to step inside properties and spaces at different stages of their story — sometimes before anyone else gets to see what they might become.

Apparently even at my brother’s wedding I’ve managed to dress on brand. 🌸😂

Today is very much a family day, but looking at my dress I realised that nature seems to find its way into almost everything I’m drawn to.

Flowers, organic pattern, colour, texture… whether it’s what I’m wearing, an interior I’m designing or the finishing touches on a staged property.

Nature gives us such an incredible source of inspiration, and it definitely doesn’t always have to mean neutral.

But today, interiors and staging can wait.

I’m off to celebrate my brother getting married. 🤍🥂

One year ago today, Suze Patel Interiors began. 🤍

On 10th September last year, I shared my first Instagram post and officially opened Suze Patel Interiors.

I had spent two years training in interior design and knew the kind of business I wanted to build, but I did not know just how much it would grow and evolve within its first year.

I started with interior design, creating homes that feel personal, considered and connected to nature.

Then earlier this year, Suze Patel Home Staging began.

I realised that so much of what I loved about interiors could also be used within property, taking an empty or overlooked space and helping people see its potential. Creating warmth, giving rooms purpose and helping buyers imagine the life they could have there.

Launching staging has taken me into a whole new side of the industry. I have connected with developers, estate agents and investors, built supplier relationships and had opportunities I would never have predicted a year ago.

So to mark the anniversary, I am also launching something new.

The Sale Ready Staging Consultation.

For £350, I will visit the property and give clear, practical advice on what to change before it goes to market, from layout and styling to colour, lighting and presentation.

And as an anniversary launch offer, consultations booked during September are 10% off, making them £315.

A year ago there was one new business, one Instagram account and a lot of ideas.

Today there are two connected sides of the studio, a growing network and a much clearer picture of where I want to take it all.

I am still learning, still building and still figuring things out as I go, but I am incredibly proud of how far it has come.

So today I am celebrating the first birthday of Suze Patel Interiors, with my biggest cheerleaders in the background, my family. 🤍

A few years ago, while clearing out my grandparents’ house after my grandma passed away, we found a shoebox full of letters my dad had written to his parents.

He had moved to Samoa as a Methodist missionary and wrote home every couple of weeks. The letters follow his life there and, eventually, the story of meeting my mum and starting a family.

I have only read a small portion, but recently I found some from when I was around one year old.

Apparently, I was a bit of a wild child.

There are stories about me stealing food from my grandad’s plate and refusing to give my mum a kiss. But what really comes through is the fondness behind his words. They were never complaints, just the amused observations of a dad who adored his children.

I read some out to my own children and they thought it was hilarious, but underneath the laughter it felt really special.

My dad passed away when I was 13, so he never got to meet his grandchildren. I was incredibly close to him, so having these pieces of his life still here feels very precious.

Through these letters, my children were getting a glimpse of the grandad they never knew. And I was getting one too, not just of him as my dad, but as a son, a husband and then a parent.

It was comforting to realise my parents went through many of the same things my husband and I have with our children. Different generation, different circumstances, but still family life.

We do not really write letters like this anymore. Yet my grandparents kept them, and decades later these ordinary pieces of paper have become priceless.

It made me think about the things we keep in our homes. A photograph, furniture passed down, something your child made, or an old shoebox full of letters.

The things with history, memories and soul.

It also reminds me why creating a sense of home matters so much in staging. A staged property should never feel like it has simply been filled with furniture. It should feel warm, welcoming and easy for someone to imagine their own life unfolding there.

Because ultimately, a house becomes a home through the memories we create and the things we choose to keep.

Sometimes networking is simply about making the right connections and seeing where they lead.

A meeting today was a lovely reminder that those conversations can turn into real opportunities further down the line.

Especially in property, relationships really do matter.

A little milestone I wanted to share over here too ✨

My first PR article has been published with BEYOUROWN® • COMPANY HOUSE, exploring 5 ways to create a home that supports your wellbeing.

Although the article focuses on interior design, so much of the thinking behind it crosses over into home staging too.

When buyers walk into a property, they aren’t only looking at the furniture. They’re responding to how the space feels.

Natural light, layout, colour, texture, natural materials and those quieter details that make a room feel warm and inviting can all help a buyer form an emotional connection with a home.

That emotional response is such an important part of staging. We’re not simply filling an empty property; we’re helping someone imagine what living there could actually feel like.

Who is home staging actually for?

It isn’t only for high-end homes or properties that need a complete transformation.

Staging can be useful whenever a property needs a little help showing buyers what it could feel like to live there.

For property developers, it can turn an empty finished development into a home buyers can picture themselves in.

For estate agents, it can offer another solution when a listing isn’t creating the interest it should.

And for homeowners, it can help bring out the best in a property before it goes to market. Particularly when rooms feel empty, overlooked or their purpose isn’t immediately clear.

The aim is always the same: to present the property in a way that feels warm, considered and inviting, so the right buyers can connect with it.

I’ve been told I need to show what I actually do day to day more 🙈. Today I joined some lovely women for a networking event in Manchester with Pam and . A really nice morning meeting new faces, old faces and talking about goal setting & focus within your business. Working from home, these kind of events really help me get out and meet like minded people, and create a supportive community that also helps build my business. I then frog marched across the city to to meet with the lovely Jason from , where he showed me the new collections and we delved more into the products and the creative process behind them. All in all a fun day out of the office, because I didn’t start a business to sit at a desk all day.
