Another very busy day yesterday

Started the day by putting right a few issues, including faulty locks, a handle and gearbox, along with correcting a poorly fitted door hinge to achieve the proper gap and get everything working as it should.

Then it was off to open another door with a failed gearbox, followed by replacing 5 pairs of window hinges at a local factory.
Finished the day fitting a repair mechanism to replace a discontinued unit, along with a few more lock changes.

A good variety of jobs and another productive day finished

A great couple of days of training with Sam and his dad, Martyn

We spent the two days working through a range of window and door scenarios that you're likely to come across out on the job, focusing not just on the methods, but also on how to adapt and overcome problems when things don't quite go to plan.

We managed to get everything covered with a little time to spare, so we finished off by going through how to pin up your own locks while on site — another useful skill to have.

Another great 1-to-1 training day completed today, this time with David from York.
The whole day was dedicated to working in detail with our UPVC & Composite Box and Auto Composite Box, covering a wide range of failed door scenarios and opening techniques.
We spent the first part of the day working through multiple UPVC gearboxes, including training on Winkhaus Cobra and Winkhaus Trulock
The second half of the day focused on auto-locking composite doors. With these systems being fitted with either lever handles or escutcheons, it's important to understand the different methods required when dealing with a failed or locked-shut door.
We worked through a great selection of mechanisms, including Winkhaus AV2, AV3/4, Avantis Autofire, ERA Surefire, Yale AutoEngage, Ingenious Autofire and GU Secury.

Another busy day yesterday!

A good mix of gearbox and lock repairs throughout the day, finishing off with a failed bifold door.

We successfully opened the door and replaced the failed gearbox, while keeping the customer's existing lock and keys — saving them the unnecessary expense of replacing more than was needed.

A few pictures from Craig's 1-to-1 UPVC training and door fitting session

Craig travelled down from Scotland for some hands-on 1-to-1 training, covering a good variety of real-world door fitting, repair and fault-finding scenarios.
We started by fitting both a composite door and a standard UPVC door, with the UPVC cill needing to be scribed to achieve a nice flush fit to the floor.

From there, we moved on to opening a failed sliding patio door and replacing the wheels, before tackling a jammed bifold door.

We finished off by working through a range of common faults and different methods for opening failed auto-locking composite doors.

A few pictures from yesterday’s 1-to-1 UPVC training session with Vik 🔐🛠️

We worked through a range of common UPVC and composite door faults, including gearbox problems, standard UPVC door mechanisms and auto-locking composite doors.

The main focus was on effective ways to overcome these failures without having to snap out locks or cut through hooks, using the solution boxes we make.

A really productive hands-on session, working through real-world faults and showing different methods that can make these jobs that little bit easier.

The UPVC room is now complete!

It now features 6 auto-locking composite doors, 1 UPVC door, 1 composite door, 1 bifold door, 1 sliding patio door, 2 windows, and a dedicated wall displaying a wide range of failed gearboxes.

Another successful repair completed today!

This Winkhaus AV2 had jammed with the hooks refusing to retract from either the inside or outside using the key, leaving the door completely locked.

Using our new Auto Composite Door Box, we were able to gain entry without unnecessary damage. We then carried out the required repair and adjustments to get the door operating smoothly again.
