Both homes at Alveston are now sold πŸŽ‰

We’re delighted to share that the second of our two eco bungalows at Alveston has now sold - meaning both homes in this development have found their new owners.

It’s a fitting final milestone for a project that has been a real journey for Landhaven.

From identifying the potential of an underused site, through planning, design and construction, our aim was always to create something that felt right for its setting: two thoughtfully designed, energy-efficient homes, built with care and made to last.

Seeing both homes completed and now sold is a proud moment for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to the team, partners and investors who helped bring the project to life - and we wish the new owners many happy years in their new homes.

When a loved one needs residential care, decisions often have to be made quickly.

One of the biggest is whether the family home needs to be sold.

Before making that decision, it can be worth taking the time to understand all the options available. Depending on the property, there may be opportunities to unlock additional value or maximise the outcome before selling.

In our latest article, we explore two practical approaches families sometimes overlook when using property to help fund elderly care.

We hope it provides a useful starting point for anyone facing these important decisions.

What makes a Landhaven project different?

Every project has its own story.

Our latest post captures just a few chapters of the Landhaven journey - from completed homes in Alveston, to planning approval in Westbury-on-Trym, and our newest project in Backwell.

Different projects. Different stages.

One consistent approach.

Every Landhaven project begins with careful thought, considered design and a commitment to creating homes built to last.

We ask questions like:

Is this the right place for new homes?

Can we make better use of the land that's already here?

Will the design respect its surroundings?

Will the finished homes still be something we're proud of decades from now?

Those questions shape every decision we make, from the sites we choose to the materials we specify and the relationships we build along the way.

Because thoughtful development isn't just about creating new homes.

It's about creating places that will stand the test of time.

A new Landhaven project is taking shape.

Behind every completed development are months - often years - of conversations, careful design and planning.

We're pleased to share an early look at our latest project in Backwell, where we're exploring the redevelopment of a single property into three high-quality eco family homes.

It's still early days, but we're excited to begin sharing the journey.

Discover the vision for our latest project and follow its progress as it evolves.

Could part of your garden be worth more than you think?

When people think about property value, they usually focus on the house.

But in some cases, it's the land around it that holds the greatest untapped potential.

A large garden, unused side plot or generous corner of land could present an opportunity for development - often without needing to sell your home.

Every site is different, of course, and many won't be suitable. But until it's properly assessed, it's impossible to know what's genuinely possible.

That's why we've revisited one of our most popular articles exploring the potential of selling garden land for development.

And if you'd rather discuss your own property than make assumptions from a blog, we've also offer a Free Land & Property Appraisal - a confidential, no-obligation review to help you understand your options.

Whether you decide to do something now, years from now, or not at all, having the right information is often the best place to start.

Planning permission granted.

After a great deal of careful design, collaboration and planning work, we're delighted to share that planning permission has now been granted for Court Farm Mews in Westbury-on-Trym.

The approved scheme will transform a previously underused commercial site into four thoughtfully designed, energy-efficient family homes alongside a detached commercial unit, creating a development that respects the character of this much-loved part of Bristol while making better use of an overlooked site.

Planning approval is a key milestone in any development. It's the result of listening, refining ideas and working closely with local stakeholders to create a scheme that balances the needs of the community with the opportunity to deliver lasting value.

We've updated the project page with new CGI images, details of the approved scheme and the story behind the project if you'd like to take a closer look.

Last week I joined the Barcan+Kirby @ team for their Cracking Connections event.

The weather wasn't exactly on our side, although it made a welcome change after the previous week's heat! It was a really enjoyable way to explore some of Bristol's iconic landmarks, catch up with people from across the property industry and see the city from a few different perspectives - including a rooftop view from the M Shed that I'd never seen before.

One of the best parts of the evening was the conversations. It was great to catch up with familiar faces, meet some new ones and share ideas with others working across the Bristol property industry.

We rounded off the evening with the excellent Cracking Exhibition: 50 Years of Aardman at the M Shed - another reminder of just how much creativity Bristol has to offer.

Property development is all about people, so it's always good to step away from the day-to-day, strengthen relationships and share experiences with others in the industry.

A big thank you to Clare Norman and everyone at Barcan+Kirby for organising such an enjoyable evening. Looking forward to the next one.

Here are a few snapshots from the evening at some of Bristol's iconic landmarks

What is your investment helping create?

For investors today, return on investment is important - but it is no longer the only consideration.

Increasingly, people also want to understand what their capital is helping create.

In property development, that can mean:

🏑 High-quality homes built to last
🌿 Thoughtful use of land
🌱 Sustainable, future-focused design
🀝 Positive outcomes for local communities
πŸ“ˆ Long-term value rather than short-term gain

At Landhaven, we believe strong returns and thoughtful development do not have to be mutually exclusive.

We recently explored this changing mindset in more detail here:

Eighteen months of construction. Years of planning, conversations and collaboration before that.

This film tells the story behind the Alveston project - from the Gardner family's land to two completed eco homes, and the people who helped bring it to life along the way.

A longer watch than our usual updates, but one we're really proud to share.

Of course, I'm proud of the finished homes, but when I look back on Alveston, it's the people involved that stand out.

A sincere thank you to everyone who has helped move this scheme forward, including Craig Short Building Contractors for leading the build, and Angus Meek Architects we are ev

We’re also grateful to the many other consultants, trades, advisers and suppliers who have played their part along the way - too many to name individually, but all genuinely appreciated.

And a huge thank you to everyone who played a part in the Alveston film.

Textures. Materials. Finishes. Details.

From herringbone flooring and quality worktops to carefully considered lighting and finishing touches, these are the elements that may seem small individually, but together define how a home feels to live in.

As our Alveston eco bungalow development nears completion, it is these details that bring the vision to life.

This month, we spent the day filming the project, capturing not only the completed homes but also the people, expertise and collaboration that have helped bring the development to fruition. We'll be sharing the finished film soon.

In the meantime, this short reel, created by our team, offers a glimpse of some of the craftsmanship, textures and finishes that make these homes special.

Thoughtfully designed. Carefully crafted. Built to last.
