👉 👀 Hiking capital gains tax to 45% would be possibly the most moronic policy yet adopted by Labour.... 😮

They seem unable to grasp the basics: this would result in a significant reduction in tax revenues.

👉 Capital gains tax is a voluntary tax, only levied when people choose to sell an asset for a gain. If Labour hugely hiked the rate people just wouldn't sell.... 😧

HMRC itself has made clear that raising CGT to 45% would result in a reduction in revenue of at least £7 billion....

👉 House prices record first annual fall since 2023. 👀

UK house prices have recorded their first annual fall in almost three years. The market remained subdued during August.

The average property price fell by 0.2% during the month, according to the latest Lloyds Banking Group House Price Index. That followed a 0.1% decline in July.

The average UK home now costs £298,468. That compares with £299,153 a month earlier.

👉 On an annual basis, house prices fell by 0.4%. This marked the first year-on-year decline since November 2023.

👉 👀 HM Revenue & Customs inspectors to assess homes for mansion tax.... 😧

👉 HMRC inspectors will be able to visit homes to establish whether they are liable for the new mansion tax, according to a report in The Telegraph.

The High Value Council Tax Surcharge, commonly referred to as the mansion tax, is due to come into effect in April 2028 and will impose an annual charge of between £2,500 and £7,500 on properties valued above £2m.

HMRC’s Valuation Office will initially use publicly available information and third-party data to estimate property values

👉 However, according to the report, valuation agents will assess properties where information needed to determine whether they are worth more than £2m cannot be confirmed using existing records or other data.

I would also add most of these "hybrid" agents (or "brokers") typically don't have full access to off-market listings as very often they are seen by estate/selling agents as competition and a threat.... 😉
