When Downham was built in the 1920s–30s, planners deliberately named parts of the estate after King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The idea was to give the area a strong identity and reflect values like fairness, pride and community pretty fitting, really.

So roads like Galahad Road, Launcelot Road, Pendragon Road, Excalibur Drive and Roundtable Road all link back to the same legendary theme ⚔️👑

Nearly 100 years later, it’s still one of those little bits of local history that makes Downham feel unique.
