We wouldn't blame you for staying exactly where you are... but Rutland has other ideas. 🌿

If you can be persuaded to leave the tent, there’s plenty to fill a few days around our Exton Park site.

Start with brunch and something freshly baked at Hambleton Bakery, spend the day walking, cycling or getting out on the water at Rutland Water, slow things down with a visit to the nature reserve or try your hand at fishing.

Further afield, wander around the market town of Oakham, take on part of Rutland’s Northern Cycle Route or make a detour to see Whissendine Windmill.

Then back to Exton Park for dinner over the fire and an evening under the stars. 🌿

October half term, but make it outside. 🍂

This is the kind of week where muddy shoes are encouraged, dinner tastes better from the fire pit and staying up past bedtime feels entirely reasonable if there are stars involved.

Let the kids run wild, toast marshmallows until someone inevitably burns one, pour something nice once the sun goes down and make the most of the sort of evenings that only really happen when you’re away.

Lantern & Larks was made for half term at a slower pace.

There is, admittedly, a strong argument for staying exactly where you are. 🌿

But if you do fancy venturing beyond the site for a day, Suffolk has plenty to tempt you out.
Wander through Framlingham and explore Framlingham Castle, head to Aldeburgh or Southwold for a dose of sea air, stroll around the curious little village of Thorpeness, or spend a slower afternoon at Snape Maltings.

There are fish and chips from Trawlers Catch in Saxmundham, a drink at The White Horse, wildlife spotting at RSPB Minsmere and tours at Adnams for anyone who likes their day trips with a little something poured at the end.

And for a bit of history, The Longshed at Woodbridge is home to the Sutton Hoo Ship’s Company and its extraordinary reconstruction project.
..Quite a lot to do, really.

Although we fully support going out for the day and coming straight back to do absolutely nothing. 🤍
