From tired and patchy to fully restored. ✨

Here's the complete transformation from start to finish. We removed the failed sealer, thoroughly cleaned the sandstone, allowed it to dry, then returned the following day to apply two coats of colour-enhancing sealer for a beautiful, long-lasting finish.

🎥 Phase 2 – Part 3: Removing the Sealer Residue

With the scrubbing complete, it's time to rinse everything down and remove the loosened sealer.

Rather than going straight in with the pressure washer, I first use a wet vac to lift as much of the gummy sealer residue and slurry as possible. This stops it being blasted across the patio and into the surrounding areas.

Once the residue has been safely removed, I can pressure wash the sandstone at a reduced pressure, giving the surface a thorough clean while protecting the natural stone.

It's all about using the right process to achieve the best possible finish.

🎥 Phase 2 – Part 2: The Sealer Starts to Let Go

This is where you can really see the stripper doing its job. As it's agitated into the surface, the old failed sealer begins to detach from the sandstone.

A small amount of water mixed with detergent helps lubricate the surface while scrubbing, allowing the softened sealer to lift away much more effectively.

Bit by bit, we're revealing the natural beauty of the stone underneath, ready for the next stage of the restoration.

Sandstone Restoration – Phase 2 (50% Complete) 👇

The transformation is already starting to show! 🙌

After removing the incorrect sealer and carefully treating the sandstone, we're now halfway through Phase 2 — and the results are looking fantastic.

The natural colours, texture, and character of the stone are being brought back to life. One of the highlights has been revealing a beautiful fossil within the sandstone — something that had been completely hidden by the previous sealer.

The sealer had turned milky and created a cloudy film over the surface, masking the natural beauty of the stone. As soon as the customer came out to offer me a drink, one of the first things they said was how happy they were to see the fossil again!

The transformation is already making a huge difference, and the customer is absolutely over the moon with the progress so far. There’s still more to do, but the results are speaking for themselves.

Sandstone Restoration – Phase 1 👇

The customer accidentally applied the wrong sealer to their sandstone, so we're starting the restoration process.

✅ Deep clean to reveal exactly what we're dealing with.
✅ Wet vac used to remove as much water as possible, speeding up the drying process before the sealer removal begins.
