All hail the apple. Apple Day is a British Calendar event founded in 1990 by Common Ground. Common Ground aims to promote local distinctiveness and the idea behind Apple Day is to celebrate the hundreds of varieties of apples in your local area. Chadlington and the surrounding local villages are abound with a vast array of apple varieties. From large private orchards down to the odd apple tree in
the garden. And we take Apple Day very seriously. With the help of our wonderful headline sponsors Burford Garden Company and Wychwoods Estate agents we’ve been able to grow our apple obsession even more. From finding different and delectable ways to eat them, juice them, bob them, peel them, grow them, identify them, pick them or store them – we’ve got Apple Day covered in Chadlington. Additionally however, we want to celebrate the Apple within the context of rural life in the Cotswolds. We will bring together a local market stall of Autumnal produce and plants grown locally and have also invited local artisan food stall holders to come along. There will of course be plenty of entertainment for children and adults alike with live music, pony rides, bouncy castle and TumbleTots. We’ve got some great prizes up for grabs. So please come and help us celebrate our apples. It’s a fundraiser for Chadlington Playgroup, a registered charity that provides outstanding pre-primary care at affordable prices for local families from Chadlington and surrounding towns and villages.
