Interest rates rose yesterday as the Bank of England raised the base rate to 1% raising concern that this will impact costs and mortgage interest rates. However, alongside this has been a recent consultation on the relaxation of mortgage regulations - to some this is just as beneficial as low interest rates as it will increase the amount house buyers can borrow. There is still a huge shortage of supply of desirable housing for both purchase and rental.
