U10s NDYFL Invitational Cup - Round 2
After receiving a bye in the first round, the U10’s faced a very tough second round tie against Next Gen FC. Having played them earlier in the season, the team knew already they were the real deal, but eager to pull off an upset nonetheless!
Before the game both teams paid their respects impeccably in the minutes silence in solid embrace.
From the initial kick off both sets of supporters were in for a real treat!
Great football being played by both sides…however Next Gen having the lion’s share of possession. Despite the pressure, Brampton did what they do best, soak it up and look to hit on the break creating several good chances.
After Next Gen hitting the bar twice, robust Brampton defending and some superb goalkeeping from Toby, the game was level at half time. 0-0.
The Brampton team talk at half time was a calm, subtle message to keep going and that we could do this!
The second half started with Brampton now in the ascendancy, bringing the game to the opposition.
In a superb counter and great whole team move, Max scored from close range to make it 1-0! I’ve seen a lot in kids football… but sure that anyone watching could see that was the moment the whole Brampton team actually believed they could win it!
Shortly after, another great move and cross into the box into Gabe who dispatched a fine first time shot into the bottom corner sending the Brampton faithful into raptures. 2-0.
The final whistle saw the end to a brilliant team performance and Brampton pushing through to the 3rd round with a fine win!
Every player in the Brampton blue probably had a decent claim to player of the match… so a difficult decision for the referee.
Andreas appointed player of the match by the referee, won every challenge he went for all over the pitch and also a vital assist. Also as ‘demanded’ by the opposition’s parents, Toby given joint player of the match for a magical goalkeeping display for the clean sheet. Chesterfield PAT Services
