Earlier this week, we were pleased to welcome five architectural students from Westminster University to our £11m project in the City.

Hosted by DB3 Group, alongside Senior Project Manager Alex Brawn and Site Manager Luke Harper, the visit provided the students with a valuable opportunity to experience a live construction site and gain a first-hand look at the industry in action.

We enjoyed welcoming the students and hope they learned some valuable insights from their visit.

Sunny days remind us that, however cold it is now, a workplace roof terrace is on standby for summer.

The 8th floor roof at Tokoro Capital’s 15 Berkeley Street is a secret terrace, discretely hidden away in line with planning, and one which didn’t exist before the team straightened the building's pitch and added a mansard roof with dormers.

The result? A 700sq ft landscaped outdoor space for tenants and their guests to enjoy when the weather becomes warmer.

Works are progressing at our £5m London Wall refurbishment where we are managing the heavy footfall on a main public access as one of the project requirements.

The team has already deconstructed the old retail unit and removed the steel mezzanine to create additional space for the full-height, radius glass extension, and deliver a spectacular reception space.

The public footway will be upgraded alongside improvements to northern and southern escalators, with strict planning for intermittent closures and diversions as dictated by phasing, to allow vital works to take place.

With material delivery sharing the same access as people and with limited structural capacity of the podium, the team will implement a just-in-time system to manage space constraints.

Working in such high-traffic areas is complex, but the outcome will be a significantly enhanced pedestrian experience, with an upgraded public realm and a more inviting, visually striking environment for all who use it.

Divisional Director Duncan Redman and Project Director Richard Harrison are once again heading to Val Thorens for the annual PropSki event.

From 18th – 22nd January they will be available to discuss anything fit out, refurb or retrofit across the workplace, student residential, healthcare, educational and leisure sectors.

Whether it's Apres Ski, Carving, Off Piste, or a simple catch up at the bar, they would love to meet.

Technology plays a key role in driving efficiency within the construction industry.

The Coleman Street team recently installed a 45-meter crane lift to transport a 2.7-tonne Air Handling Unit, along with stone and GRP grating, to the roof of its building.

A road closure was necessary and the team worked with its partners to minimise downtime. Planning and coordination by a team of 11 resulted in the entire crane setup, operation, and removal in just 45 minutes.

Our £3.5m Bloomsbury building is underway, with just under two months until completion.

Final touches are underway on the 3rd floor, with all windows now installed. In the attic, significant work is ongoing, including extension to the flooring, roof reinstatement, and the installation of structural steel and decking in the plant area.

A key milestone ahead is the installation of the Air Handling Unit, requiring a temporary works supported scaffold platform and lifting beams within the light well to guide the unit into position. Despite challenges such as restrictions on noisy works, the team has ensured steady progress.

We’re thrilled to see this space taking shape and look forward to seeing the final reveal in January.

Structural modifications are now complete, and finishes are underway within a seamless programme at our £11m fit out in the City.

Doors, tiling, and lighting are advancing across all four floors; 50% of the new mesh rafts have been installed on Level 2 alongside service tiles and grills; reclaimed flooring supports the environmental credentials of the project.

Level 3 is now fully handed over while the second fix takes place in the basement for the new commuter facilities; the Terrazzo flooring is scheduled for a pre-Christmas install. Cantilevered scaffold and lifting beams were necessary to install the striking double-height frameless glass in the reception, and Roman and Victorian-era pottery were uncovered during the enabling works within the new lower ground floor terrace, with adjustments made to the pile cap design to accommodate the archaeological findings.

This is an exciting project that on completion will offer premium office and co-working space within a high-end environment that incorporates the outdoors on each floor.
