Has anyone lost a peacock?!

This character has been with us for a couple of days now... he has a lame right foot in case that helps with ID. The rest of him is properly spectacular.

Do please get in touch if he might be yours.

A replacement finger post has appeared to replace the old rotted one blown over in the winter gales. The path skirts passed Holme House Farm on its way to the hidden gem of Gurnal Bridge over the Sprint - an alternative to Garth Row Lane locally known as puncture ally (the lane is a bridal way so bikeable).

Local timber arriving for two of our builds. The saw logs are a mixture of storm blown and sustainably managed timber from Far Sawrey and Graythwaite. The biggest was so heavy it needed sectioning up in situ prior to the lorry bringing it over. We'll be milling this at HHF, and getting it dried for use later this year and next. Will post pics of glorious local grown timber as they come off the mill 😊

We hope to offer a repeat of our successful 'Devil's Parish' walk following the Sprint and telling the stories of the landscape and culture of the places we pass by.

Holme House Farm Open Day

Holme House Farm is a 13-acre site tucked between Kendal and the Lake District National Park. Bordered on two sides by the River Sprint and nestled amongst the hills of Skelsmergh Parish, Holme House Farm is a beautiful place.

The site was acquired in 2019 by a group of five families working to create an environmentally conscious, nature-friendly co-housing community. Since then, 2 homes are almost complete and the land has been transformed to enable 3 more to be built. We have created communal growing areas, learned how to manage the wildflower meadow and planted many hundreds of trees and hedge-plants to increase the biodiversity across the site.

Keen to hear more and see the site for yourself? Join us on Saturday, October 11th from 2pm to 4pm

Please join us for tours of Holme House Farm with a resident, and chats about what’s been happening and what we plan over tea and cake in the polytunnel ….

Well-behaved dogs and children welcome.

If you’d like to come along, please could you email [email protected] and let us know how many of you there will be, and whether arriving by car. We’ve limited parking space so arrivals by bike/foot especially welcome.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
