🎱 TOW BAR AND CHILL DAY 🎱

Just had tow bars fitted to both mine and Mrs OXO's vehicles, couldn't recommend Doncaster City Towbars enough, 3 hours and both vehicles done! No stress, no hassle, and a brilliant price, thanks guys! 👌

While the van was getting done me and Mrs OXO popped to Westy's cafe for a breakfast to set us up for the day 🍳

Then while her car was getting done, we did a quick pick up from B&Q to Scuff Medics, but it wasn't wheel related, it was some plyboard for building a half pipe for Elsie-may-skates (Link to her Insta below) 🛹

Time to start looking for a touring caravan for our holidays with the dogs now we have tow bars! 🏖

🪛 DIS-ASSEMBLE/MOVE/RE-ASSEMBLE 🪛

A different job for me today, this young lady had been moved the other day (by another contractor), unfortunately these units where to big to fit out the door, the customer advised they did a good job of the move and they where happy with the service, but the mover couldn't dismantle and re-assemble these, everyone has different skill sets and thats fine 👍

I have come in today and completed this part of the job for the customer. The units have been apart and together a few times, so aren't the strongest, but they will do the job! I have levelled the doors up the best I can, but advised they will want fixing to the wall this time round as the carpets soft and making them lean forward, a family member is going to do this for her (I did offer obviously). When I return to do some electrics for her, I will get some brackets and get this done if not already completed and level the doors up properly 💪

Not all movers have the skills/tools/knowledge to complete the tasks that sometimes need doing on top of just moving, if you want something like this completed during your move, let me know and I will get it done for you :)

🤣🙄 WHAT DAY OFF? 🙄🤣

As I had an appointment this afternoon with the accountants, I thought I would have today as my midweek day off (I generally work them around what days people need me), and i still got dragged into doing work! 🫣

Mrs OXO has been asking me to fix the light and put the picture up in the caravan since we got it, coming on for a year ago now, so today was the day! 👍

First job was to investigate and replace the light switch, which as you can see was buggered, so we went and got a close match switch and fitted it, still no power to the light 🤪

So i tested at the junction and had 240v coming from the switch, but no power to the bulb, light fitting removed and tested continuity, 1 wire was spot on, the other.... dead 💀

A trip to B&Q and about an hour of us trying to make our minds up, Mrs OXO made the executive decision and a new light was purchased! 🤑

New light fitted (after my appointment with Mr Accountant) and we love it! 💡

Then the job of fitting the picture, a nice easy one, even if a little unautherdox! We wanted it to flush to the wall due to space, so we tried double sided tape at first, it fell off after 20 minites, so half a tube of sticks like sh*t turbo later and its solid as a rock! 🪨

Next time that wants to come off, the wall may have to come with it!... Obviously I wouldnt do this in a customers property (unless they asked) but it makes sense for what we wanted, and it works (hopefully!) 🖼

🚚 ITS FRIDAAAAY! 🚚

Started today with a job moving a lovely wood and cream sofa locally for a lady with Mrs OXOs help 🛋

Second job was another sofa, this time a stylish green one from doncaster to the top side of Leeds to go into a new start up design studio, so made sure she got a full invoice so she can claim the transport back on tax been a new business, every penny counts 👩‍🎨

Then the last job of the day after some well earned dinner, was a house to flat move for an elderly gentleman, who was originally booked in around 3 weeks ago, but due to hold ups with the transfers, only got the keys today, but with help from his family, at least he is in now :)

🤔 HOW DID THAT TREE GET THERE 🤔

I had just got back from the emergency call out this morning, to get a call to collect some large fence panels from wickes for a customer. On arrival I helped carry them down the garden and fitted two of them with him, but what is going on with the third 🫣

This was how it was when he moved in, the posts where already there, but so was the tree, the posts dont look that old, but the tree is dead and old, so we can't find any logic to how this happend, safe to say, the dead tree is coming out later today 🌴

Taking the rest of the day off now to spend with some family and friends, looking forward to filling my face with all you can eat Sushi later at YO! 🍣

🚨 LAST MINIUTE CALL OUT 🚨

Got a call out this morning from the team at Giovanna's cafe, on site within 10 minites as I was local, they had a nightmare that stopped business, the power had gone 😭

Fault finding carried out, the water heater had caused the trip, power restored and that water heater isolated, but dont worry, they still have other sorces of hot water 👌

New water heater on order to replace the faulty one and I will update with pictures of the replacement once completed 😀

While I was there, we had to test everything was back up and running with a Bacon buttie and a brew for me and Mrs OXO, thanks very much to the "Spud Muffin" and the team 🥓

⚡️ WHAT AN ELECTRIC DAY⚡️

Starting with a couple of sofa moves 🛋

Then this afternoon I have returned to a customers house, to fit this lovely IP44 rated bathroom light, all functionally tested on completion and the light and bathroom extractor fan are spot on 👌

Followed by a re-look at a lighting issue with a 3 way switch in the hallway, initially last week I fitted an integrated switch after the previous "electrician" had fitted a normal switch and just used a wago to remove the other 2 wires required, then told the customer she needed a full rewire and that's why it didnt work! After fitting the new switch, I started to question if he was correct! 😅

It turns out, no he was definitely wrong, but I made my own fluff up last week, I got that engrossed in some of the other wiring that I myself put 2 of the wires the wrong way round keeping the same issue on the new switch, but I informed the customer as soon as I realised it was my fluff up, integrity is something not enough people have! 👍

Leaving the customer happy with her new light, removed bathroom heater (last weeks job) and working hall way lights, i have just quoted her for the next job, removing a hard wired doorbell and 1 half of her kitchen and appliances, including making it safe, ready for a registered electrician to come in and make adaptations I have advised so she can have extra plug sockets, but I unfortunately can't complete for her due to regs 📝
