☠️ !!NOT OUR WORK - WE HAVE BEEN CALLED IN TO FIX THIS!!! ☠️
For the customers that are just desperate for us to start their work and are patiently waiting, well this total MESS is why we unfortunately can not guarantee a start date at current! This poor, poor customer has been the victim of some total cowboys. Just look at the state this roof has been left in for the last 6 months!! The job has been so poorly done, it has been growing arms and legs as we uncover each ineptitude that inevitably requires fixing.
What they paid for - stripping of the roof slates, stripping of the old membranes, stripping of the old sarking boards, re-insulating between the rafters, then finally redoing the lot! Easy peasy... right?
What they got... Partial stripping of the slates, covering up of the old membranes (and not even well done!), no new insulation added - thus no new sarking and finally an abysmal attempt at re-slating... that they did not even finish!
For those with untrained eyes. You should not see holes in your slates, you should not see nails between your slates, the green waterproof membrane paper has strict overlap criteria that was not adhered to (thus water has been able to pour into the property!!), the brown stuff below is the old membranes that was left totally intact. There was rubbish left everywhere. This is one of the WORST roofing jobs any of us have ever seen. Truly shocking. The customer is pursing legal action but the chances of success are slim...
Anyway, we are on the job now and are working with a team of other skilled tradespeople we know and adore to get this place into sorted out!
I will post a follow up post, to showcase how it should look, once we are done.
In the meatime, we have been enjoying working in a larger team once again and of couse the glorious sunshine while we work! I think roofing jobs in the good weather have to be one of our absolute favorite job types we do. Its just a shame its under such poor circumstances.
Please, please, please people check your trades peoples, portfolios, references, reviews and dont hand over all the project costs before satisfactory completion of works!
