Just a warning to anybody using Hastings Direct or considering using them.

I have been a loyal customer and my renewal came through which had increased to just under £1200. I rang them to see if there was anything they could do to help as I have just left my main job. I was offered a reduction of about £60.00. I said other years they had reduced further but was told that this was definitely the market price and if I wanted I could go and compare it. I did. I got it for £710 with the same policy details. That is not the issue.

The issue is I rang to cancel with Hastings Direct and was kept on the phone trying to get me to change my mind. Just as I was getting it cancelled he told me that they could now do it for £690.00!!!

So Hastings Direct were trying to screw me for over £400!! What does it need to get to that point before they will give you the right price. He tried to tell me that the market had changed between 1st April and 12th April. What utter bo****ks.

Don't ever accept a renewal price from an insurer and maybe not even a second attempt. And from my experience, NEVER use Hastings Direct.

So as of 1st April most people are going to pay around £700 a year more for the energy which is an extra £58.00 a month. This is expected to increase again in October.

As this article explains, the Government is offering what could be kindly put as "limited" help but for many people this will not help. Petrol is at an all-time high and rising, food keeps going up, even my local car park charge increased by 100% as I noticed yesterday.

If you don't want, or are unable to cut back on your spending any further the other option is to bring in more money. Lovely afternoon walking around Thornhill with my leaflets about me and the Community Garage Sale.

Some really friendly people on the way including Kevin Champion cleaning a customer's car...... then I found out I have broken my Elbow!!
