In the summer of 1956, a 13-year-old George Harrison holidayed with his family at Sandy Bay, where he met Jennifer “Jenny” Brewer.

The pair became pen pals, staying in touch into the 1960s. 💌

According to recollections from their friendship, the music-loving George was already excited by the new sounds coming across from America — including Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel,” which was climbing the UK charts that very summer. 🎶

Just a couple of years later, George would join John Lennon and Paul McCartney in the group that would eventually become The Beatles. 🎸

Who would have thought that one of the future Beatles had spent a summer right here at Sandy Bay before the world knew his name? 💙🌊
