Four Months In: My Incredible Journey
It feels like just yesterday I was taking a deep breath and hitting 'go' on this whole business adventure, but here we are, four months in, and what an incredible ride it's been! Based right here in Fareham, it's been far more diverse, challenging, and rewarding than I ever could have imagined.
Honestly, every day is different, and that's what I love. I've had the privilege of helping over 100 customers across our community and the surrounding areas. One day I'm carefully mounting a huge TV that feels like it weighs more than I do, the next I'm hanging shelves, pictures, and mirrors, trying to get them perfectly level (it's a personal mission!). I've even brought beloved pieces back to life by fully restoring tables, which is surprisingly satisfying.
The outdoor projects have been a huge part of it too. I've tackled everything from transforming overgrown spaces in garden restorations, resurfacing patios to simply keeping things tidy with w**ding and lawn mowing. Believe it or not, I've also found myself helping folks sell their cars and sorting out services and MOTs. And then there's the painting – full houses, external windows, and doors – it’s a good workout! Plus, I’ve become quite the expert at trimming and removing hedges and, of course, the ever-present challenge of flat-pack furniture. Every job, big or small, feels like a little victory.
Starting my own business has definitely brought a whole new rhythm to my life. The biggest, most precious 'pro' is being able to walk my daughter to school every single day. Seriously, that half-hour stroll, holding her hand, chatting about her day – it’s something I wouldn't trade for anything, and it's a huge reason why I took this leap. And honestly, having the flexibility to set my own hours? It's a game-changer.
Of course, it hasn't all been perfectly smooth sailing. I still cringe when I think about accidentally pulling out that customer's prized plant, mistaking it for a w**d. That was a truly humbling (and slightly embarrassing) moment, but definitely a lesson learned! And let's be real, the work doesn't always switch off when I close the front door; my mind is often buzzing with plans for the next day. But honestly, looking back, it's all gone so much better than I ever dared to hope.
I really want to take a moment to say a massive thank you to everyone in Fareham and the surrounding areas who has put their trust in me. It means the world, and seeing so many of you become repeat customers, some on a fortnightly basis, is just fantastic. And to the amazing people I've hired to help out – I genuinely couldn't be doing this without your hard work and support. Last but not least, to my family, your unwavering encouragement through this whole new chapter has been my foundation.
I'm genuinely excited about what the future holds. I can't wait to share my year-end update; if these first four months are anything to go by, it’s going to be a positive one! Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart, and I really look forward to meeting many more of you.
