Campbell's Bakery has officially become Scotland’s oldest family-run bakery still operated by a family member, with seventh-generation Master Baker Iain Campbell carrying the torch.
Campbell’s Bakery started in 1830 in Callander by founder Donald Campbell and his great grandson Bob Campbell , moved it to Crieff in 1929 (Bob was one of the first people in Crieff to have a motorised vehicle which he used on his ‘roll round’ – a twice a day delivery service to people who couldn’t make it to the shop.) Comrie was opened in 2013.
Their bestselling products are (and always have been!) Scotch Pies, fudge doughnuts, strawberry tarts and softies. The strawberry tarts and scotch pies have recently gone viral on social media with a post of Iain asking how do you eat your strawberry tart, then eating it in a oner! The ‘pie’ post has re-ignited the old question about “A pie on a roll? Aye or Naw?”
