A trip to Braemar today to visit on behalf of the

St Margaret’s is a perfect example of how a church can be transformed into a vibrant music and arts venue while still respecting and preserving its history.

The team there are doing a fantastic job and were wonderful hosts today — more than happy to answer all our questions and share their experience.

We were also treated to a lovely lunch at the The Braemar Highland Society. What a beautiful place Braemar is.

The car park at The Fife Arms was overflowing with brand new Rolls-Royces — I’ve no idea what the collective noun is… a fortune perhaps? 😂 Not to mention the lonely Ferrari! No photos of them though — this was a property day.

Sending a freshly renovated property off to new tenants feels a bit like the first day you send your kids to school. You’ve spent so much time planning, fixing, worrying about the little details, and hoping everything is just right. Then suddenly it’s time to let go, trust the process, and hope someone else loves and cares for it the way you did while getting it ready.

As some of you will know, Rory took a skate to the wrist during his game last night. He was quickly attended to by the medical staff and taken to A&E for treatment. He’s resting up today (watching hockey, funnily enough 😂).

Thank you so much for all the kind messages — they really mean a lot.

Wishing Euan Hanton a speedy recovery too; at least they had some company at A&E 🤣

It was already a big week for Rory as he picked up the keys to his first house, so the renovations will be on hold for now!

We visited MAKAR’s affordable home prototype and workshop today at their site in Inverness. A full-scale demonstration model built to prove a new way of delivering high-quality, low-carbon, low-cost housing using locally sourced Scottish timber and natural materials.

Built in just under a week and with a projected weekly running cost of £5 a week this is a really exciting prospect!

Before & After 🏠✨
So pleased with how this turned out — it’s taken a lot of blood, sweat, tears… and money 😅

We’ve driven past this house for over 20 years, sadly watching the upkeep slowly get on top of the owner. When we finally bought it, so much was overgrown you could barely even see the building.

Liam did a massive job just unearthing the house, then we stripped everything right back — lathe & plaster included (what a job 😩). From there the trades stepped in — stonemasons, roofer, joiner, plumber, electrician — and rebuilt it from the ground up to turn it back into a home.

It really started to feel real when the taper and painter finished, the floors went down, and finally the kitchen and bathroom went in. That’s when we could properly see the vision we’d had from the start 😍

We’re so excited for a new family to now call it home 🏠
Liam and I are looking forward to a little break… until the next project comes along 😉
