If you charge £25 per hour… where does it actually go?
One of the questions cleaners hear most often is, “Why is cleaning so expensive?”
The reality is that when you’re self-employed, the hourly rate isn’t what ends up in your pocket.
From tax and National Insurance to insurance, travel, cleaning products, equipment, admin, bookkeeping, training, holidays and sick days, there are many costs that come before we pay ourselves.
What clients see is an hourly rate. What they don’t always see are the hours spent quoting, scheduling, invoicing, answering messages, maintaining equipment, buying supplies and running a business behind the scenes.
This isn’t a complaint, I absolutely love what I do. 🤍
It’s simply a little insight into what goes into providing a professional, reliable and fully insured cleaning service.
When you support a small business, you’re supporting a real person, their family, their livelihood and all the hard work that happens long before the cleaning even begins.
Thank you to every client who chooses to support local. It never goes unnoticed. ✨
