🏠 Landlords – the new rental property register is on its way

The government has confirmed the date for its new "Register your rental property" service, part of the Renters' Rights Act. Every landlord in England with let properties will need to register themselves and each property they rent out.

📅 What it means for North Dorset landlords
The service opens in the West Midlands on 15 December 2026 and rolls out region by region. Here in the South West, registration opens on 15 August 2027 and the deadline is 14 November 2027. You can register early from December if you'd like to get it done.

💷 The fee is £65 per property, per year, renewed annually.

🏠 LANDLORDS IN DORSET & WILTSHIRE — NEW REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS ARE COMING

If you’re a landlord, there’s another important date to put in your diary.
The Government is introducing a new rental property registration service as part of the Renters’ Rights Act.

Landlords will need to register themselves and each of their rental properties.

📅 Registration opens: 15 August 2027
⏰ Registration deadline: 14 November 2027
💷 £65 per property, per year

⚠️ There can be penalties for failing to register, so it’s worth being aware of the new requirements well before the deadline.

The service is known as the Private Rented Sector (PRS) Database — but you don't need to worry about the jargon. The important thing is knowing what you need to do and when.
