to blue skies over Glasgow but with the real work happening below ground ☀️

A look at progress on the University of Glasgow Keystone Building. Basement slab down, cores climbing and a forest of temporary propping holding it all together while the structure takes shape.

Big thanks to for the site invite - great to see the momentum up close.

Great to see Paul and Matt representing Doig+Smith at the recent Schools Fair at St Andrew’s Secondary.

A brilliant opportunity to meet the next generation, share what a career in construction consultancy looks like, and hopefully inspire a few future surveyors along the way.

Always good to support young people exploring the built environment. 👏

Building a better Scotland starts with building better conversations.

Good to be in Glasgow today at the where ideas, policy and delivery all meet under one roof.

Doig+Smith in the mix, as ever.

From scaffold to skirting boards, this one’s coming home fast.

With completion planned in the next couple of months, the scaffolding has now come down and the focus has firmly shifted indoors. Flooring is going down, kitchens are being installed, and the project is clearly heading into its final stretch.

It’s always a satisfying point in the programme when the building starts to feel like a place again - spaces taking shape, finishes coming together, and the end result becoming tangible.

Our role continues to focus on keeping delivery safe, coordinated and well managed as multiple trades move through the final phases of work. The finishing line is in sight, and the pace is picking up.

Throwback Thursday to this day last year - shifting sand in spite of snow at Ardersier Port Authority ❄️🌊

A great reminder of the resilience, planning and teamwork behind complex construction projects, whatever the weather brings.

When wind power needs deep roots, infrastructure has to step up.

The The Scottish Government through Highlands and Islands Enterprise has committed £1.8m to support a key step in enabling Scotland’s floating offshore wind ambitions. The investment supports ground investigation and design work for infrastructure specifically planned to serve the floating wind sector, creating capacity for specialist vessels, large-scale laydown and the integration of turbine components onto floating foundations.

Doig + Smith are acting as Project Manager and Cost Manager, supporting the delivery of infrastructure that will help position Stornoway as a strategically important hub for offshore wind activity in the Outer Hebrides, unlocking economic opportunity while supporting the transition to low-carbon energy.

Targeted investment, long-term thinking, and infrastructure designed for the realities of floating wind - exactly where the sector needs to go next.

Anchoring the final chapter at Ardersier. On one of our last visits to the Port, it’s great to see everything in place, prepared and primed to support offshore renewables as momentum continues to build.

Looking after what matters, while planning for what comes next.

We’ve been involved in work around the Highland Investment Plan, with a focus on Community Wealth Building and long-term outcomes for the Highlands and Islands.

Working with The Highland Council and partners across design, consultancy and advisory services, discussions have centred on how investment can respect the character, history and identity of places, while supporting sustainable change.

An important part of aligning shared priorities and supporting place-based approaches that deliver lasting benefit for communities.

Good design coordination starts before you step on site.

A couple of snaps from Friday’s site audit at at Pollok Country Park supporting Glasgow City Council aspiration to restore and rehabilitate this historically significant complex into a net-zero visitor attraction.
As Principal Designer, our role goes beyond design reviews. Site audits help keep risk management live, practical, and aligned with what’s happening on the ground.
