New sports and activity flooring can cut school energy costs by up to 70%.

An article earlier this year in Contract Flooring Journal highlighted new embodied carbon targets for school buildings, including a maximum embodied carbon figure of 550kg CO2e/m² across 200 new schools planned in England over the next five years.

One of the big conversations within the article was around long lifespan materials and biogenic carbon storage through timber flooring.

That’s one of the reasons we continue to work with Junckers Flooring across education environments.

It’s positive to see more attention being given to flooring specification at design stage, especially in spaces where durability, sustainability, and long term performance all matter.

Laser Cutting Services Ltd created this fantastic bespoke Rams stencil for Suffolk New College, which now takes centre stage on their newly refurbished sports hall floor.

The stencil was carefully positioned before the graphic was applied to the floor, creating a bold centre-court finish for the Suffolk New College Rams basketball team.

A great piece of work from the Laser Cutting Services.

Wait for the final detail on this one...

Suffolk New College sports hall in Ipswich has had a full refresh, with the timber floor sanded and sealed, the court markings reapplied and a bespoke Rams centre-court graphic added.

We worked alongside Junckers Flooring on the project, with Laser Cutting Services Ltd supplying the stencil for the Rams graphic.

And that final reveal? Worth the wait.

Wait until you see the finished floor…

We recently visited Debenham Sports and Leisure to see the court markings being refreshed.

Every line is meticulously measured out before the masking tape is carefully laid down, with the paint rolled between the lines to create crisp, clean markings.

Now the work is complete, and the finished floor is looking great.
