Site Visit This Week – Unexpected Issues Found & Fully Resolved by Our Team

This week we arrived at a job to replace some chipboard flooring — but once we lifted the boards, it became clear the customer had far bigger problems hidden underneath.

What We Found on Arrival

• The void under the flooring was stuffed with rubbish, restricting airflow and trapping moisture.
• The air‑conditioning unit had been flooding the extension area, causing significant water damage.
• The kitchen sink waste had been leaking, leading to mould, damp and deterioration of surrounding materials.
• The original extension joists had no noggings and only one small block acting as a support leg, offering nowhere near enough structural stability.

What We Did to Put It Right

Our team stripped everything back, cleaned the area thoroughly and rebuilt the floor structure properly:

• Installed new noggings and added extra support throughout the joist system.
• Strengthened the frame to ensure long‑term stability.
• Glued and screwed new chipboard flooring for a solid, secure finish.
• Supplied and fitted 6mm flooring‑grade plywood, ready for the new flooring and kitchen installation.

Another job completed to a professional standard — ensuring the customer’s extension is safe, dry, structurally sound and ready for the next stage of their renovation.
