It’s a big month for one of our most recognisable local landmarks!

Cumbernauld Airport is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and there’s plenty happening to mark the milestone. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just enjoy seeing the planes overhead, it’s a fantastic part of our local community heritage.

There is a Fly-In weekend scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of June, which is always a great sight. Plus, for the entire month of June, landing fees are being waived for all aircraft, so we might see a few more visitors than usual in our skies.

It’s landmarks like these that make our area such a unique place to live and work.

Cumbernauld is getting a wonderful green makeover, and it’s something I’m really excited about for our community.

The 'Nurturing Natural Connections' project is bringing nearly £3 million in funding over the next five years to restore our local wildlife. We are looking at 2,000 new trees and 20 hectares of wildflower meadows being planted across the area.

From improvements to the woodlands at Abronhill and Palacerigg to better access at Westfield and Cumbernauld Community Park, these changes make our town an even better place to live and raise a family. It’s fantastic to see such a commitment to our local environment and growth.

As someone who lives and works here, I believe these green spaces are what make a house truly feel like a home.

Great news for families in Cambusnethan! 🌳

The new jungle-themed play park at Cambusnethan Memorial Park is now officially open, and it looks fantastic. It’s heartening to see such a vibrant space created for our local community, especially as the design was shaped by the ideas of local children.

A huge well done to Lucia McLeary, a P7 pupil who designed the wonderful opening sign. The park has been thoughtfully designed with inclusivity at its core, featuring equipment like roundabouts and sensory panels so that every child can join in the fun.

It’s brilliant to see such incredible local talent being showcased right here in North Lanarkshire.

The flag designs by the pupils of Whitelees Primary School are now on display at Broadwood Stadium, and they look fantastic! It’s a proud moment for the kids and our community as we gear up for the World Cup warm-up events.

Something special is happening right on our doorstep at Palacerigg Country Park!

Have you had a chance to see the new 'Inspirational Garden' yet? It’s just moved here all the way from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where it won a People’s Choice award. It’s part of a fantastic £3 million investment into wildlife restoration and our local community spaces.

The garden was designed for Down’s Syndrome Scotland and has now found its permanent home at the Watch Us Grow charity site. With thousands of new plants and beautiful Scots Pines, it’s a wonderful spot for a calm walk or to just enjoy some local nature.
