Hi everyone,
Please have a look at the statistics of EMPTY homes in the uk from October 2019.
The impact and scale of empty housing
High levels of empty properties are recognised as having a serious impact on the viability of communities. Consequently, it has been identified that dealing with empty properties can have social, regenerative, financial and strategic benefits.
Statistics published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) put the number of empty homes in England in October 2019 at 648,114. This represents a 2.2% increase on the previous year’s total. Of the 648,114, 225,845 were classed as long-term empty properties (empty for longer than six months).
These are large numbers when you see how many people are living on our streets at night,
According to the latest Government figures, collected in the autumn of 2019 and published in February 2020, 4,266 people are estimated to be sleeping rough on a single 'typical' night.
There was a decrease of 9% between 2018 and 2019. However, since 2010 the rough sleeping figure has increased by 141%.
This is just a short summery of statistics from 2019 and does not include family’s that are currently living in hostels,
I have only one question!!!! Why do we have people living on our streets!
