1️⃣ You must serve notice before certain works begin.
Extensions, loft conversions, or structural works near a shared wall or boundary legally require a Party Wall Notice under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.

2️⃣ Your neighbour can appoint their own surveyor - at your cost.
If your neighbour doesn’t consent, they’re entitled to appoint their own surveyor, and you’ll usually be responsible for both fees.

3️⃣ Skipping the notice can delay your project.
Failing to serve notice can lead to disputes, legal action, or work stoppages. Proper notices protect your property and your relationship with your neighbours.
