The Cator Estate was first laid out under leases granted by the timber merchant John Cator in the late eighteenth century. Its modern chapter belongs to the Span partnership, whose houses carried a spirit of post-war optimism: good design made for everyday living. We have happily accepted an offer from a retained buyer for a split-level apartment on Malvern Road, one of the prettiest streets in Hackney, where we have represented many properties and worked on several projects. A few weeks of viewings brought familiar faces from our network, and multiple offers. We have found a wonderful buyer, and the conveyancing is off to a friendly start.

Made by our friend and neighbour Charlie Borrow in his Shoreditch workshop. He works solely with sustainably sourced hides from the last remaining oak bark tannery in the UK, situated in Devon. We worked collaboratively to choose finishes and leathers that embody our shared environment and values.

The body of the holder is a deep walnut with naturally burnished edges, and the leather cord is a soft tan with rounded belting. It is hand-stitched and stamped with our monogram.
