In his words: “Welcome to my more-is-more, dark-walled rental in Bloomsbury, a neighbourhood legendary for its creative ghosts and community. The interior inspiration comes from some of the most theatrical decorators: David Hicks, Billy Baldwin, and François Catroux. This home is a fantasy world tucked away in a busy city and it’s the place where I both work and unwind.”

Jože Plečnik (1872–1957) trained under Otto Wagner in Vienna and renovated Prague Castle for President Masaryk. He spent the rest of his life in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Plečnik’s drafting studio, Karunova 4–6, Trnovo. The upper of two pine-clad cylindrical rooms built in 1925. From this table he designed the National and University Library, the Triple Bridge, the colonnaded embankments of the Ljubljanica.

Turn End, Haddenham, Buckinghamshire.

Designed and built by Peter Aldington and his wife Margaret between 1964 and 1968. Aldington received a RIBA Award for Architecture in 1970 and was appointed OBE in 1986. All nine houses completed before he retired from practice have since been listed, more than any other architect of his generation in the UK.

A few years ago one of the photographers we work closely with .zine was invited to photograph the house and garden.

These intimate images feel all the more poignant following the news of Peter’s passing last month.
