To mark 30 years in business NL Property, the UK's leading senior living developers, set themselves a challenge to ride 300 miles to raise money for Sepsis Research FEAT.

They ended up smashing that target, with the NL team and their supporters racking up almost 1,500 miles!

Yesterday NL Care Director Guy Harman went to Edinburgh to meet the team from Sepsis Research FEAT, along with the research team from the Roslin Institute. Guy presented a cheque for £30,000, the total from their phenomenal fundraising efforts.

A huge thank you to everyone at NL Care!

30 years ago we opened our office in West Hampstead without a care in the world. Today, as one of the UK’s leading senior living developers, our world is care!

We planned to each ride 300 miles and as we crossed the finish line today, we’ve actually racked up almost 1,500 between us which is testament to the enthusiasm and support we’ve received from so many of you. It kept pushing us even further as the money came in and the messages of support kept us in the saddle. We just couldn’t stop in Edinburgh, so rode the long way back too.

We’ve done some fabulous deals over the 30 years, but the best one has been sticking together so it’s only right we crossed the finish line simultaneously - which we did with gusto on Saturday morning.

Thanks for all your amazing support which will save lives and make a real difference.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has taken part so far to
raise awareness nto research.

Sepsis is truly a silent killer - Sepsis is the number one cause of preventable death in the world. It is an indiscriminate, deadly illness that can kill a healthy adult in a matter of hours – and that’s despite all the advances in vaccines, antibiotics and intensive care.

Sepsis is one of the least well recognised conditions and can be hard to diagnose.

It’s for a fantastic cause!

really is a 'silent killer'.

It takes the lives of around 50,000 people in the UK every year - many of them either very young or over the age of 65. It can strike quickly and apparently indiscriminately. In reality any of us could be affected at any time.

For those of you who don't know too much about sepsis
here are a couple of FAQ's.

About sepsis

Q: Is sepsis an infection?
A: Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection, when the body’s immune system overreacts and starts to damage its own tissues and organs

Q: Is sepsis the same as septicaemia (blood poisoning)?
A: Septicaemia is a bacterial infection that spreads
into the bloodstream. Sepsis is the body's response to that infection.

Q: Is sepsis the same as septic shock?
A: Sepsis is a serious complication of an infection.
Unchecked, it can progress to septic shock — a severe condition that occurs when the body's blood pressure falls, and organs shut down.

The team's well into the North as Guy take the lead coasting through Preston while Nigel
tails having passed Warrington.

Between 16 and 30 June 2021 we will each be cycling virtually - and possibly a bit competitively - the distance from our original offices in West Hampstead to the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh - some 300 miles.
