A French doors project that the customer wanted in before Easter. Well here we are and the new doors are made and hung. I’ve started with the making process rather than what the old doors were like. Slide 6 shows the old doors, the sealed units held in by gaffa tape, clawed stiles and one of the hinge spindles substituted by an Allen key. As ever Oliver Bradshaw Joinery did a sense-check on my drawings before I was let loose on the machinery BLOQS Early in the peace I noticed that the Meranti tread was a bit spongy, the point of the tread slide is to show that rot isn’t always obvious. The rot was cut away and a new nosing machined and put in. Sealed units were made and fitted into the frames by Hond & Langer who made the job so much easier by delivering to site ‘at sparrows…’. So, new doors in an old frame. Always challenging and not my favourite- but it worked.
