This Learning Disability Week, we celebrate the strengths, talents, achievements, and individuality of every person in our community.

Everyone deserves to be heard, valued, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive. Learning disabilities do not define a person. They are just one part of who someone is. What truly matters are the kindness, resilience, creativity, humour, and unique perspectives that each individual brings to the world.

Let's continue to support one another, champion inclusion, and create environments where everyone feels confident to be themselves and pursue their goals and dreams.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT – PLEASE BE SAFE ⚠️

We've been made aware of reports of scam callers claiming to be from a "social housing repairs team" or a "government scheme" offering assistance with issues such as damp and mould.

These callers may sound convincing but are often unable to clearly identify which housing provider they are calling on behalf of and may become evasive when asked for further information.

🚩 Signs that a call may be a scam:
• The caller cannot clearly identify your landlord or organisation.
• They use vague terms such as "social housing repairs" or "government scheme."
• They ask for personal information.
• They avoid answering questions or become frustrated when challenged.

To stay safe:
✅ Never share personal or financial information with an unexpected caller.
✅ Ask for the caller's name, organisation and contact details.
✅ End the call if you are unsure.
✅ Contact your landlord directly using a trusted phone number to verify any claims.

If you receive a suspicious call and your not sure please check it with our repairs team by calling 01257367374

Our latest Tenant Voice Panel meeting took place online last month and as always, our panel members provided valuable insight to help shape and improve services for Hilldale tenants.
During the meeting, panel members received introductory information and training from our Housing Services Manager on Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). This is the first step in an exciting new area of scrutiny for the panel where they will review completed ASB cases to assess how we handled them, whether policies and procedures were followed, and, most importantly whether communication with tenants was clear, supportive and delivered in a way they would expect and appreciate.

The panel also approved the final version of the brand-new Hilldale Tenant Handbook. This handbook has been developed with the panel with members helping to design the content and shape the information included. The handbook will now be provided to all new tenants to help support them throughout their tenancy journey.

We would like to thank all our Tenant Voice Panel members for the time, commitment and expertise they bring. Their feedback plays an important role in helping us deliver the best possible services for Hilldale tenants.

Interested in making a difference and having your voice heard? We'd love to welcome more members to the panel.

Last week, members of our Leadership Team and Housing Officers visited schemes across all of our service areas as part of our roadshow to discuss our proposed business strategy.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us and share their views we really value your input.

It was encouraging to hear that many tenants feel safe, settled, and supported in their homes, and that positive relationships with Housing Officers continue to make a real difference.

We also received helpful feedback on where we can improve, particularly around consistency of services, communication, and making sure tenants feel fully informed and involved.

All of the feedback gathered is now being carefully reviewed by our Managing Director and Board, and will play a key role in shaping Hilldale’s new business strategy and priorities for the next five years.

Your voice matters, and it is helping us build better services for the future.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the team at Hilldale Housing Association would like to remind everyone that mental health is just as important as physical health.

We understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it’s important to know that no one has to face challenges alone. Taking time to check in with ourselves, support one another, and have open conversations can make a real difference.

As a community, we encourage kindness, connection, and understanding. Whether that’s reaching out to a neighbour, speaking to a friend, or simply taking a moment to prioritise your own wellbeing.

Together, we can help create a supportive and inclusive community where everyone feels heard, valued, and supported.

Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we’re proud to stand alongside our colleagues, tenants and communities to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and celebrate the individuality of Autism. We’ve been wearing blue and, more importantly, sharing the personal stories behind why this day matters to us.

For some, it’s about being a parent, navigating years of advocacy to ensure their child is heard, supported and understood. It’s seeing first-hand the challenges autism and ADHD can bring in everyday life, but also the incredible resilience, determination and growth that comes with the right support. It’s celebrating achievements that may look different to others but mean everything.
For others, it’s about family, supporting a loved one with complex needs to find a safe, stable home where they can truly belong. It’s understanding, on a personal level, just how life-changing the right environment can be, and why consistency, security and care matter so deeply.
And for some, it’s about the small, everyday moments, loving someone for exactly who they are. It’s the late-night phone calls, the unique interests, the kindness and humour they bring, and the challenges they face in a world that doesn’t always understand them. It’s also seeing the importance of protecting and supporting those who may be more vulnerable, while celebrating everything they achieve in their own way.

These stories remind us that awareness goes far beyond the workplace it’s personal, it’s emotional, and it’s part of our everyday lives.
As a social housing provider, we know how important it is to create spaces where people feel safe, supported and valued. Today reinforces why we do what we do, not just as professionals, but as people and family.
Because everyone deserves not only a place to call home, but a community that understands and celebrates them.
