🎉 Celebrating 20 Years with Thomas Armstrong Construction!

This September, we’re celebrating Dean Fisher, who has reached an incredible 20-year milestone with Thomas Armstrong Construction. 👏

Dean started his journey with us as an Apprentice Joiner, working on the Multi-Storey Car Park in Workington Town Centre. Two decades later, he’s still part of our construction team, building on his skills and experience across a wide range of projects.

When asked about his favourite part of working at Thomas Armstrong, Dean said it’s been meeting fellow members of the workforce and building friendships along the way.

One of his career highlights has been working on new development projects and delivering a high-quality finish for our customers.

And his advice for anyone starting out in construction?
💬 “Listen and keep asking questions.”

For National Tradesmen Day, we’re recognising the apprentices gaining valuable experience across Thomas Armstrong Group.

Brodie Richardson is a trainee quantity surveyor within our construction department and is now in his fourth year at Thomas Armstrong, alongside the fourth year of his quantity surveying degree.

Over the course of his apprenticeship, Brodie has worked across a variety of commercial and residential projects. His experience so far includes the Gaming Hub, Langdale Roofing Project, Westfield Housing Project and Ashfield School Project. He is currently working on the Kells School Project, Inglewood School Project and the voids project.

He has also assisted with larger-scale projects, including Centre Parcs, High Wray, Wigton 60 Dwellings and Woodhouse 40 Dwellings.

Looking ahead, Brodie’s aim is to complete his degree and become a fully qualified quantity surveyor before working towards becoming RICS chartered. He also wants to take on more complex projects and continue building his experience and knowledge.

National Tradesmen Day is a chance to recognise the people learning, progressing and building their careers across the industry, and Brodie is one of the apprentices doing just that at Thomas Armstrong.

We’d like to wish John McCracken a very happy retirement following his last day on 28th August 2026.

John started with Thomas Armstrong Construction on 29th January 1986, working as both a Ganger and Telehandler Driver across our project sites over the past 40 years. Having accumulated a vast amount of knowledge and practical experience, it’s fair to say he has forgotten more about construction than most people will ever learn.

He isn't hanging up his boots entirely just yet, John will still be stepping in to cover holidays for us, while spending the rest of his well-earned time on his allotment.

Thank you for all your hard work over the years, John, and all the best for your retirement!
