As a Paediatric Nurse, former foster carer, adoptive mum, and now mummy to two amazing neurodivergent little lads with complex needs, I know how difficult it can be to find genuinely accessible and SEND-friendly places to stay and visit.

That's why I've launched a new Accessible & SEND-Friendly Accommodation section through ACOC Getaways.

What a video… 🤩

This was taken at the stunning Mach Loop (also known as the Machynlleth Loop), one of the UK’s most famous low-flying military aircraft training areas.

Watching fast jets weave through the Welsh valleys is an incredible experience and a must-see for aviation enthusiasts. ✈️

The Mach Loop is only around 45 minutes’ drive from our Borth properties, making it a fantastic day out during your stay.

Top tip: Arrive early! The viewing points get very busy, especially during good weather and school holidays, and parking is limited. Giving yourself plenty of time will help you secure a parking space and the best vantage point for plane spotting.

When people think about drowning or getting into difficulty in the water, they often imagine children, poor swimmers, or someone injured. But that isn’t always the reality.

You can be a strong swimmer and still get into trouble. Sometimes it’s the tide. Sometimes it’s a hidden current beneath the surface. Sometimes the water is so cold that your body panics and goes into cold water shock.

Water doesn’t discriminate — it can happen to anyone, at any time.

That’s why we spend so much time teaching our children Float to Live. Because this advice isn’t just for children — it’s a lifesaving skill for everyone.

If you find yourself in trouble in the water:

🩵 Relax and try to control your breathing
🩵 Use your arms and legs to help you stay afloat
🩵 Call for help or swim to safety when you can

Explosion rocks notorious Welsh beach 😮

Borth is one of Wales’ most beautiful seaside towns — famous for its railway station, incredible beach, towering sand dunes, wildlife, and even its mysterious “Forbidden Forest”.

But Ynyslas Beach has another, lesser-known reputation…

This latest incident involving suspected military ordnance is surprisingly not the first time something dangerous has been discovered along this stretch of coastline.

A place loved for family walks, sunsets and stunning scenery — yet hiding a fascinating and sometimes unsettling wartime past beneath the sand.
