Before & after method 5!

The head of Instagram recently came out with a statement which went viral: “Instagram is no longer only a photo sharing app”
⚡️
Well, duh! It hasn’t been for a VERY long time!
⚡️
All this to say, video is important. So, if you want a no frills, easy before & after video idea - here it is.
⚡️
You can make this on reels by simply uploading the images and choosing how long to display them OR you can make this in Canva, with a new page per image and setting the timer per image
⚡️
I went with the latter for this example because these images worked better landscape. Timings are 0.8 seconds per image.
⚡️

As part of I’m giving you a new tip every day on how to showcase your before & afters

Today, it’s about the effectiveness of a single image post. By putting your before and after in one image, you’re allowing someone to make that instant comparison, rather than scrolling right for it
⚡️
If you have a branded page, like me, it also helps your post stand out on the feed and be recognisable as you
⚡️
I use this coral colour a lot, so anyone who follows me knows that this is a post by me, and hopefully will stop and have a read!

You’re competing against hundreds and hundreds of posts, anything you can do to make yours stand out is a bonus

As part of I’m going to be giving you tips and showing you different ways to showcase your before & afters this week
⚡️
Today is the simple after picture followed by the before picture as a carousel HOWEVER take note 👇🏼
⚡️
This is MUCH more impactful when you’re using the same angle to show the transformation
⚡️
SO make sure at all stages of your project you’re taking photos from ALL 4 CORNERS of the room, as well as the entrance shot.
⚡️
For some rooms, like this one, it’s obvious where you’ll be taking the before and afters, but for others it’s not until the project is finished that you realise the best angle, maybe because of a new window or reconfiguration of space. Cater for that!

By far my favourite engagement feature on Instagram stories, polls are great for so many reasons:
⚡️
- Allows you to get an insight into your audience’s opinions on important property topics

- Can be used to decide on property details e.g. colour schemes or layout

- Can be a bit of fun e.g. today’s poll on my pasta choices

- Increases your story reach as Instagram sees people engaging with your story and prioritises it over others

This is your go-to, I haven’t planned my post and I’m getting into paralysis mode. Help.
⚡️
Step 1: take a picture of yourself doing whatever you’re currently doing
Step 2: if you have a branded page, airdrop/send the photo to your laptop, stick it in Canva, remove the background using the automatic feature, add a catchy piece of text
If you don’t, post it as is.
Step 3: send it back to your phone, open Instagram and start typing your copy
Step 4: add your hashtags from a list you’ve ALREADY created (having a list of 3 hashtag groups you can use per post is something that will take a bit of time to create once, then no time at all thereafter)
Step 5: ensure there’s a hook - funny location, a grabby headline
Step 6: post

Caveats:
1) I don’t condone ‘posting for the sake of posting’. For the most part, I want you planning your content in advance to avoid this quick last minute scenario.
2) Yes of course I’m going to be faster than most. Writing and creating content quickly was my career. This WILL NOT take long though!

REAL TALK - brutal honesty coming…

It’s not about being fake or ‘playing the game’, as I often hear people say

It’s about showing up as yourself.

Personal branding is about being recognisable. In the sea of hundreds of social media posts, it’s about standing out and not being just another swirly carpet (if you know you know).

What makes YOU and your property business unique, interesting, relatable?

Being yourself ALWAYS wins over playing an act to get followers, or clients, or funding for your next project.

Show the good with the bad, the high and the lows, your ACTUAL personality and I guarantee people will be drawn to that.

We have enough faceless, repetitive social media posts written by VAs for property investors who can’t be bothered to put effort into social media.

If you want to learn how to do this, I can help. If you want to pay a VA £3p/h to do this, that’s OK. But don’t wonder why you’re not getting results on social media!

Yes, you might get angel finance from just showing pictures of done up houses
Yes, other property investors might buy your staging service from seeing your finished product

BUT
They will recommend you to others if they know, like & trust you
They will feel confident using you again and again if they know, like & trust you
⚡️
Like know & trust is built in many ways. Showing yourself is one of them.
⚡️
